That may be of interest to you, especially those like myself that suffer greatly with abdominal pain. Below a link on how dysbiosis (microbiome imbalance, which I suffer from and probably many others) is the root cause of visceral pain among other things and other related information.

How do you sleep with the pain
My pain tends to calm down during the night. I've had pain during the night to the early hours a few times in the past but rarely happens, but if I do get pain I just take some buscopan with or without pain killers, and if pain is related to gas take windeze or deflatine Rennie and immodium if pain is related to diarrhea. Do you get alot of pain at night?
Just read this - interesting read but as with many academic articles, evidence tends to only 'suggest' x, y, or z helps. Many of us with IBS (and in my case IBD too) probably do have this microbiome imbalance and wouldn't it be great if there was one product recommended to all that we could all take and find that it works wonders!
Thanks much for sharing this link -- sounds like a promising start. Re: the above comments by you and Frasina -- I can compare where our IBS research and tools are in the early stages in much the same way my husband who has Type 1 diabetes (previously known as juvenile diabetes) has been "teased" by written suggestions that science is closer/now closer, etc. to a cure for Type 1. He is 66 and still waiting. However, I must say that his latest version of insulin pump and continuous glucose monitor that he wears 24/7 -- (especially due to their sophisticated algorithms) -- is the closest we have seen yet to achieving target goals and avoiding complications.
