Sorry loads of posts like this and I don’t know what I’m looking to gain - maybe just venting! Have had lower abdominal pain intermittently for nearly 2 years with some mucous in my stool every now and then - bloods all normal as was calprotectin in stool - GP has only just sent off for a FIT test - I’m mildly annoyed that this was never done before! I know there are many reasons for this , I’m 10 months post partum and also been diagnosed with a very tight pelvic floor - still fearing the worst however!!

Freaking out
Hi Sherah, I am sorry you are having a frustrating time with your GP. This is very common. It took me three visits to different GPs in my practice to be taken seriously. The third one freely admitted he knew nothing about gut issues and referred me to a gastro consultant. Perhaps it would help to put your mind at rest if you ask for a referral?
Thanks for your reply! This new GP has been great and said to book back in for a discussion regardless of the result of the FIT test. My main (probably irrational) worry if that if I have bowel cancer I’ve had it for nearly 2 years! It’s so frustrating isn’t it! I’m glad you finally got some support!
Thank you!
Hi - the FIT test came back normal but as I was still having the pain I was referred to gastro - they said it didn’t sound like anything obvious and sometimes pain can happen for no obvious reason (helpful) but referred me for a CT scan - I had this last week and now freaking out again waiting for results! I’m seeing a slight link with my menstrual cycle but who knows…
Hiya I must say my GP is pretty good - had results back in a week - hope you get some answers soon - the waiting really is horrible!
