I had several/ continuously episodes of bleeding ( clotted blood) havely with diarrhoea over the weekend accompanied by cold sweating, sharp pains in the lower abdomen, chills and nearly passing out. Had an sigmoid test today and the findings were Fresh blood in the lumen and ulcerative/ inflammation 28 cm with mucus. Ischaemic colitis. Biopsies. Sent home later this evening and no support or information was given on how to deal with it and I was told by the nurse to call 999 if it happened again. I had small amounts of blood before being discharged but to the nurse was not a case for concern.
Endoscopy might follow in 4/5 weeks time.
Small amounts of bleeding as soon as I arrived at home. Struggling what to eat or drink.
Please anybody been through this? What are Ischaemic colitis treatments?
It is not a good idea to ring an ambulance as waiting times are hours and hours, they should only be used for life threatening conditions or if you are injured and can’t get to hospital. Better for this lady to get someone to take her to A&E.
I saw that too. Not sure what the nurse was thinking. My daughter is a paramedic and it is regularly taking several hours to reach non critical patients.
God, what is this country coming too! No disrespect to your daughter, she is doing a grand job. You must be proud of her, but must have been scared when COVID was at it's peak!
