Hi, have you just been diagnosed? It's really overwhelming at first as it seems that everybody will tell you to eat different foods, it's confusing and frustrating. I kept a food diary for the first few months, and that helped me to find my food triggers. A lot of people have problems with some vegetables like cauliflower, cabbage, Brussel sprouts, so be careful with those. Fizzy drinks can cause problems, so cutting down on them is a good idea. Be careful with artificial sweeteners, it took a while for me to realise that it was my fruit squash and sugar free chewing gum that were causing issues, and stay away from sorbitol in particular. I found that low fat natural yoghurt every day helps or a Yalkult drink. I also changed from white to brown bread, and to wholemeal pasta and brown rice. I have found that it's better for me to get fibre from fruit and vegetables than from oats or bran. A lot of people have been helped by the FODMAP diet but it's best to do that through a dietician to make sure that you have a balanced diet. It can be difficult to find a diet that works for you but it does get easier - a Mediterranean style diet has really helped me (lots of fruit, vegetables, fish, rice, pasta) and I avoid most fast food. I hope you feel better soon 🙂
