Lecicarbon A suppositories

I`ve been diagnosed with evacuatory dysfunction and last week saw a colorectal surgeon privately who has referred me for a proctogram but in the meantime suggested I should try Lecicarbon suppositories instead of glycerol. He didn`t give me a prescription but said I can buy them over the counter. Looking online they seem to be expensive and I suspect my local chemist will be reluctant to order them. If they work well I hope to persuade my GP to prescribe them as I am over 60 and they would be free. (He did tell me to contact him again if I can`t get them and he would write me a private prescription - which will also be expensive!)

Has anyone had experience of these? And have you been able to get them on the NHS?

If they're on prescription I would ask your own GP if you can have an NHS prescription then you can see if they work.

I've used them in the past and found them quite ineffective. Have you tried mini or micro enemas? They are easier to insert than suppositories and act far quicker.

thanks- the consultant did say they work well for some people and not at all for others! I have tried the mini-enemas and they didn`t work for me

AS an update - I was able to buy them over the counter at my local pharmacy but they are nearly £13 for 10, so if I do find them successful I will try to get them on prescription
