I started getting diarrhoea 2 months ago. Suffered achy type stomach pain and fatigue. Blood tests showed high CRP Inflammation as well as inflammation in stool test. 2 weeks later tested were repeated and can back as normal. No blood. Saw a private gastroenterologist who said that it must have been an infection of some sort for it to be so high and then normal in a short space of time. Especially as i had just started to get firmer stools with mucus by the time of the appointment.
Two weeks later the constant diarrhoea is back. Doesn’t seem to be a pattern to eating. I have reduced appetite so losing weight. I have booked to see gastroenterologist again this week. I need a diagnosis. What is likely to happen from here?
Thanks for any help

Hi I started getting explosive diarrhoea in jan with inflammation in my stool test too I also had a lot of mucus when my stools started forming again and a couple of episodes of blood! My gastroenterologist started me on the fod map diet and I've had a ct scan and gastroscopy I'm just waiting for a colonoscopy. I'm guessing you will have further investigations now! The fod map diet helped me and I'm taking prucalopride to try to regulate my bowels as my consultant thinks it could be due to over flow because I have chronic constipation. Good luck I hope you get some answers.
Thanks for your reply. How have your symptoms improved since the Fodmap and your medication? My stomach is so gurgly and never really know what to eat.
Yes it's improved loads it's not been easy though I lost a lot of weight I was terrified or reintroducing foods but I just took it slowly. I had prawn cocktail crisps at the weekend (bad mistake) my stomach was so sore and had horrid cramps and wind for days 😪 unfortunately my diet is very boring now but I'm getting used to it and it's so much better than suffering those horrid symptoms. The meds to are working so far. Most days I have a fairly normal bm now just praying it continues. Speak to your gastroenterologist about the fod map lots of people find it improves their symptoms
