Hi, been diagnosed with IBS after multiple tests ruling out other things. I have a constant nagging pain on the lower right abdomen and very loose stools. Anyone else have similar symptoms and advice for treatment please? Thanks

Right sided pain

I will pm you with some general advice that might help you since there is a lot of detail.
Hi,
Yes, I had a very sharp pain in the lower right abdomen that settled into a nagging pain. It's now rarely there. I believe it's caused by pain at the Ileo-cecal valve (ICV). Here are a couple of posts that I found helpful; you'll see a lot of replies:

My advice:
1) Start a food diary. At your stage of diagnosis, all information is helpful information so record everything you eat, drink, your stools & your symptoms.
2) Lots of us can control our symptoms by changing our diet. I've been following the FODMAP diet which has helped me however a) you must see a dietician to follow the diet b) the FODMAP diet is hard work & probably unnecessary if your symptoms are relatively mild.
Read the above posts for diet tips & join the IBS Network charity for advice (they have a helpline you can phone) theibsnetwork.org/
3) Try diet changes one at a time & record the results in your food diary. Common things that help IBS sufferers include
- cut out wheat
- cut out dairy
- cut out/cut back on alcohol
- cut out/cut back on fatty foods
Best wishes!
