Lower right abdominal pain

New here!

For six days in a row I have right lower abdominal pain, slightly tender but not bad. It is enough to bug me all day. I am concerned about appendix but have no other symptoms that they say with appendix. I have been very bloated under my breast area, right in the middle, with burning feeling and after eating I get urgent bowel movements! Hard to even get there sometimes. Is this all IBS. Just worried about the appendix thing but after six days Iveould think I would know? Sorry so long but seems like so much going on in there it’s exhausting.

Torcol, I'd see your doctor about that if I were you. IBS gets the blame for all sorts of things and this might just be a new little gem for you to deal with, but maybe not, so I'd get it checked out. Good luck. X

I’ve had that same pain for 6 years. Gastros don’t know what it is.

Thank you for taking time to respond! I have already had two stomach ultra sounds, blood work, stool sample thing, girlie exams but nothing. I don’t want any colonoscopy or endoscopy if I don’t have to. With my anxiety they would have to pay t me totally out! Besides, after reading post after post those tests come back inconclusive too? Dr tomorrow again so we’ll see!

Hahaha it’s not that bad honestly! They give you something to make you a little drowsy too :-) That said I think they’re looking for three main things; lower scope, crohns or colitis (and we’d know if it was that bad! We’d be hospitalised!) and upper for ulcers (or the bacteria that cause them). So I think that’s why most people get a clear scope. I’ve had all the tests you mentioned plus a ct scan! Ummm radioactive rays anyone?? I’ve got to the point where I think it’s either SIBO or Candida overgrowth. Have you looked into those?

When getting the Colonscopy you have to have your symptoms and pain or they can't tell you anything

I had a similar experience. Not saying yours is the same, but perhaps something to think about. Turned out my gallbladder and appendix went bad at the same time. Both looked normal with ultrasounds and CT scans. A HIDA scan showed I had cholecystitis. Then after that I still had the lower right abdominal pain, everything kept getting worse. They kept telling my appendix was fine but I demanded to get that removed just like I had to demand to get my gallbladder removed. When they removed my appendix it appeared normal on the outside but when they opened it up for pathology it was all infected.

It took me years to get my appendix out but in early November of 2017 everything got drastically worse and my gallbladder went bad too. I had to fight to get treated properly. I was treated poorly in the hospital, them telling me it was all in my head. I’m now 1 month post op from my 3rd abdominal surgery since August and am starting to feel much better.

I am glad I pushed until I was taken seriously. You know your body best. All the scans and tests were “normal” and I had many pelvic exams. But just because things appear normal, it doesn’t mean they are.

I had my gallbladder removed 7 months ago. Had four really, really bad attacks over two years that scared me badly. Thought I was having a heart attack. The final attack my pancreatic enzymes were 15,000, guess like 3000 or something is normal? Had a stone stuck in pancreatic bile duct. Luckily the next morning my enzymes were down enough to have the surgery, went home five hours after and four days later was painting and landscaping for four days! It’s just this nagging lower pain in same spot every couple weeks, and the bloating, burning in upper abdomen under ribs! I’m used to the loose and urgent stools and I usually get by each day by just saying “oh well, it is what it is”?

I wasn’t okay after my gallbladder was taken out. I eventually had to go back to the hospital because of the pain, diarrhea, etc. I knew something was wrong. I commented with my experience since you mentioned you were concerned with your appendix. I only had a few appendicitis symptoms and normal CT scans so it was ignored but I was right about it all along. I wanted to say something since I had similar symptoms that eventually got worse and worse.

Hope everything turns out alright, whatever your ailment ends up being!

Thank you so much, I will ask about a ct scan and blood work. They say high white blood count or ct scan can identify appendicitis? With all the other crappy, bloated, loose stools, etc.. it just gets old and I say “ just another day, ignore it”. I always say, hey, could be worse, I got to see the sunrise again. Some aren’t so lucky. Thank you for listening

I understand completely. And yes, I eventually had the high WBC but still the normal CT scans so they dismissed me for a long time. Finally found a surgeon who agreed to take it out, and I had appendicitis the entire time. It can be frustrating when “gold standard” tests fail to catch these things! I unfortunately did not present with typical appendicitis and was just brushed off. Not saying you 100% had what I did but it isn’t impossible to have normal test results and have something seriously wrong, not just ibs like I’ve been told forever.

I will always be here to help and support, so don’t hesitate to message me. Good luck!!

Fascinating about your appendix. For five years I've had this pain in bottom right side of abdomen (due to food poisoning causing chronic SIBO). It feels like my cecum but the appendix is there, too. Any advice on they can check if appendix is infected? My white blood cell count is normal, which would mean to infection. I am in acute pain. (Vegan gluten-free, soy-free, low-fodmap diet.) Thank you. And best wishes ~

Hi torcol, it could be your appendix and unfortunately they have to come to a head before anything can be done.

It could also be IBS, go to doctors if you have not already been
