Confused. Can this be just IBS?

Hi everyone. I’m nee here. I have been diagnosed with IBS and was constipated for a week in December then the next week was the opposite followed by two weeks of bright blood. Blood has stopped now for 2 weeks but still constipated. Anyone experience this???? I have a colonoscopy this week.

Hi Groove, sorry to hear you're going through this. I am not a doctor, and the bright blood certainly needs looking into. But if I'm honest, it seems a little quick to diagnose you with IBS.

I do hear of folk being rushed to judgement without real in-depth investigation to rule out other reasons. IBS is such a complicated issue I find it hard to really trust it is an absolute with only a few months of symptoms, but that's just me.

Perhaps a second opinion. I hope you get the CSY quickly though, so it can rule out other things.

I agree. If there is blood a colonoscopy is vital.

The colonoscopy should give you the answer as any blood seen should be investigated. Good Luck

They shouldn’t diagnose you with ibs until you’ve had tests good luck with your colonoscopy try not to worry update us after x
