I’m having a blood test Thursday to see if my stomach pain is caused by h pylori but I’m still taking esomeprazole will this effect the results? I’m in a lot of pain tonight with stomach pain can anyone recommend what I can take to calm it down until I get the results back? Will paracetamols help a little? I really anxiously about my stomach and could cry easily.

From what I know the blood test looks for antibodies so PPI’s won’t affect the result. They do affect the stool or breath test so you have to come off them for 6 weeks before taking these tests.

Just watched some American on u tube talking about hpylori and getting rid of it by diet dont know how true it is but I feel your pain as I suffer and hug hot water bottles .I am omeprazole .I have found eat regularly and drink plenty of fluids exercise as well and avoid eating before bed .This all started with hiatus hernia and acid reflux and then loads of tests and diverticulitis on top ,such a joy but it ain't going away so it really is see what's best for you good days bad days and occasionally from hell but still here and still breathing lol certainly can be a game changer though will give you that ,stress makes it worse nos illegitimus carborundum

I also suffer from diverticulosis, IBS and terrible acid reflux so I sympathise! I find it impossible to know what action to take when I have a flare up as I don’t know whether it’s chronic gastritis, diverticulitis, acid reflux, or IBS. So what foods do you avoid or what medicine to take to help and manage? That leads to even more stress. Additionally my ‘flare up’ has lasted since last October and I’m getting quite desperate for some relief, especially as I have a constant mustard taste in my mouth and burned tongue syndrome. Joy ( not).

Blood antibodies test won’t effect the results of pylori. Stool or urea breath sample would be better but you need to stop the ppi 4 weeks before hand. If you test positive you need antibiotics to clear the bug. It’s the only way you will clear it
