does this sound like IBS?

can ibs cause an urgent need to use the bathroom within 10 minutes of waking up every day? I started taking a fiber supplement and it helped to bulk up my stool but theres either mushy poop leftover or hard pellets left over in my rectum. TMI but I noticed mucous in my rectum as well. is this more serious than IBS? like cancer? 29 year old female and k. pregnant

Hi Mommy_of_2, to my knowledge mucus could be a sign of a underlying health condition.

I would suggest contacting your health provider ASAP.

I had similar symptoms last year. Rushing to the loo as soon as I got up, soft/watery stools but never feeling completely empty. I cut lactose from my diet and it solved the issue. Might be worth trying that if you haven't already.

Not sure about mucus though.

IBS is diagnosed by eliminating anything else via a stool sample and blood tests:

If you have any bowel symptoms that are not normal for you, you should always get an appointment with your GP for them to carry out investigative tests.

If you are diagnosed with IBS, you can check back in here, since there is much that can be done to help your symptoms. By the way statistically far more people come back with an IBS diagnosis than anything else, but it isn't best to assume.
