I don’t need to run to the toilet or anything but o always have leakage and have to wipe about 10 times a day after a bowl movement? I also have bloating that makes me feel really fatigue despite a super healthy diet!
Many thanks!

Hey! I'm so sorry to hear you suffer with this. I was diagnosed with IBS a few years ago, but recently they've thought it's something else. Definitely go to the doctors, but I'll prepare you - it will be a loooonnnggg process! There's a big possibility that it could be IBS, but luckily there are lots of medications to help treat this condition. Stay safe
Many thanks! Yes it already has been years of investigations with no real conclusions. Getting worse though the healthy I am it seems! Feels all a bit of guess work from doctors for me:/
I can really relate. I was in hospital yesterday with severe stomach pains and vomiting. I had a blood test, which was normal - so of course, nothing is wrong with me! They just always say "it could be this.." or "it could be that.." but never get a proper diagnosis. Stay strong though and remember you know your body best! Wishes x
Hey Walt,
It’s likely IBS. How long has this been going for? Have you noticed it being worse after eating a certain types of food? Might be worth keeping a food diary...
Also, any other symptoms?
Also are you pooing properly, as in emptying out properly? As this sounds like constipation, sounds bizzare i know, but ‘soiling’ is common when you’re constipated. Encopresis is the technical name for soiling. Definitely needs to be checked out.
Wish you all the best!
Thanks Mikin,
Stools are pretty much always loose and also oily despite a super healthy diet. I have kept a food diary and it really doesn’t matter what I eat, the result is the same. The only real difference is over the last 6 months, I have 2 bowl movements a day since eating healthy, and before that it was jut twice a week! But even then they were loose . I feel worse after bowl movement in terms of bloating. I’ve had colonoscopy’s x 3 and nothing found.
Thanks
Interesting, have they ruled out something called bile acid malabsorption? They would normally do a SeHCAT scan for that, definitely worth asking if it could be that to a Gastro specialist doctor. They would also need to rule out small intestinal bacterial overgrowth - which could be likely if you suddenly changed your diet....
Are you on any long-term medication? Such as an acid suppressant? Or had a recent course of antibiotics before your symptoms started?
I had a CT scan of the pancreas and never heard anything back so hope that’s fine. One important thing o failed to mention is I did have a fatty liver a while back and thought nothing of it thiugh now I release how serious that is :/
Any diagnosis of IBS needs to come from your doctor. They will run stool and blood tests to eliminate anything else first.
Hi,I think you’ve took the most important test to check for anything bad wrong by having Colonoscopy. Maybe it’s just mucus, because I have that problem.
And in the years I’ve been on here, your about the first I’ve heard say you feel worse after a bowel movement. I’ve been through ALL the system from one end of the UK to the other. And I’m still suffering.
I’ve got to the stage of accepting specialist/ doctors/consultant are not God and sometimes they have no idea what’s wrong. But I do believe a colonoscopies are probably the best test.
Hi Walt46
My symptoms are similar to yours (although I also get other symptoms, like bad anxiety after pooping) and I also feel worse after a bowel movement. Had loads of tests and nothing found as of yet.
Yes, it's a mistery. After a bowel movement I feel terrible for anything up to about an hour. It doesn't sound that much but considering I have about 3 or 4 bm's a day that's quite a lot of time ☹️
I’m the same,3-4times a day,and by the evening I’m now struggling to cope with the pain. I used to be able to cope, but I think it’s slowly getting worse.
By the time it’s bedtime I now have to take a Temazapam to get me to sleep.
I think it’s all down to nerves, and I can’t see a way out of that. I’ve tried nerve blocks, and they did no good. I tried a Physiotherapist who told me after a few sessions she couldn’t help me because it’s like the longer I’ve suffered it would take that amount of time to get me right. Now your talking around 14-15 yrs.🙄. Sorry for the rant,it just makes a change to here of someone the same. Because you would expect once you’ve had a bowel movement you would feel better, not worse.
You are fine to rant. It really is soul destroying but we will find an answer because w shave to. Whatvtests have you had? I do believe it could be to do with the nerves as I do have nerve problems to the point where they are trying to rule out MS. I get about 4 hours a month we’re i feel terrific and I think- is this what other people feel like all the time - I’m so jealous. I have changed my diet recently to just fruit, veg and chicken. I have started walking 2 hours a day and row a bit . This may make me sound like I’m quite healthy and fit to be able to do this but the pain and fatigue I go through is awful, and I’m not a fan of the diet after a week but I’ll try anything until this gets better.
Hope things improve - keep experimenting.
I went 6 times before 9am. It's not pleasant being like this and in pain that's for sure
I'm trying to figure out of I have ibs.. I get this really uncomfortable ( feels like trapped gas feeling) which it isn't as pass lots of gas when on the toilet. . Just wondering. Stools have been bizarre this week I've initially gone to toilet pass lots of sounds like bubbling wind have a few small little pieces of poop followed by then a loose spell. Diarrhoea like but not watery..I've also had a month of re occurring mouth ulcers .
Right what tests have I had,hope you’ve got a while to read🙄.
I’ve had a Barium Swallow,then they turn you in all directions on a bed,and X-ray,I’ve had Sigmoidoscopy,Proctogram,CT scans,MRI scans,Endoscopy,
Colonoscopy,Ultrasound Scan. And I had a one where I drank some mixture like orange juice and they took a video of what was going on.
There’s a couple there I’ve had two or three times. The first Sigmoidoscopy I had I drank a mixture the night before to empty my bowel.
Then a few months ago he wanted me to have another, but I refused because I thought I couldn’t cope with it again but he gave me Enema this time, but they’ve all come back negative. I’ve also had nerve blocks.
If I get worked up my pain increases,so that’s one thing that makes me think it’s stress. I do take a diazepam if anything stresses me,which does help.
I have had a very stressful life,so maybe this is the consequences.
I’ve paid Private,I’ve seen no end of gastroenterologist from one end of the country to the other,I’ve tried Probiotics, councillors, physiotherapist,
Psychiatrist,Fodmap diet, plus other diets. To be honest I just given up the fight. And I’m now tired of being messed with. It gets me down a lot, but on the whole I cope most days, but that’s all it is cope.
Like you I look at folk and think how lucky they are, But I have a daughter in law who is wheel chair bound from mistakes made with her Back, and she’s just 46yrs old, then I think I’m lucky. It’s all hit and miss.
There you go,I did say how long you got.🤔
Wow, you’ve had the lot. I guess there is some relief to know there is nothing obvious that it is life threatening but then there is the unknown factor. Right now I’m preying for nothing life threatening, but then is I get that, I’m sure I’ll want it resolved. I’m only 40 and have to put on a brave face all the time for my family it really is hard. Wishing you all the best. Staying healthy is the best you can do right now and positive thinking. That’s the route I’m taken. And like you said with our poor niece, there are always others way worse than you so have to be thankful.
This might be too personal to reply, so if you don't want to, no problem. My questions is if you are female and around menopause age? I ask because I am and all these things seem to have started around perimenopause so I sometimes wonder if that might have something to do with it.
I have had lots of gastro tests done and the gastro doc says he thinks not gastro issue. So now I'm thinking nervous system? Vagus nerve? Ms?
Hi in my case,my problems had nothing to do with the menopause,I sailed through that.
You could be right about the Vagus nerve,or Perennial nerves which my physio told me can cause a lot of problems. I was under a pain specialist in Manchester, and he told me when it comes to nerves it’s a bit hit and miss, because they don’t show up on scans etc. I have never been given a definite diagnosis, they all seem to skate around giving me an answer, except my GP who did say I’ve no idea what the problem is. So I started going on the Pelvic Pain forum on Health Unlocked and I learned quite a bit.
I also looked in my records on Patient UK,that I use for ordering my prescriptions, and there was a letter there stating Perineal nerve. Now no one told me. When I asked my GP,she never gave me a straight answer.
One gastro doc I saw mentioned the pudendal nerve and sent me for a sacro-pelvic scan, I had it done and she said everything was ok except for something (can't remember the name) but she said that wouldn't affect my bm. I was surprised because I was under the impression that nerves don't show up on scans.
Hi, hope I don’t disappoint but I’m a 39 year old male. I’m being investigated for MS so quite possible nerve related but I am having other symptoms such as pins and needles all over and blurred vision. I’m a bit all over the place.
Ha, it’s was a username I had about 20 years ago and I haven’t met it go!
Hi,I think the clue is in the name😂😂
