Me again , sorry

I’ve had the day from hell, I keep having what I can only call attacks, I got up this morning feeling a bit light headed and shaky but ploughing through, had gluten free toast which was ok and then I had a smoothie and bang, the worse reflux and pain in my upper tummy, chest, back and throat, it scared me, the only way I could shift it was walking up and down, I couldn’t understand how a little smoothie could cause so much pain, any feed back would be so grateful

Oh poor you! I know that pacing up and down scenario. Mine usually come on in the night so the pain wakes me up. I seem to be full of trapped wind so painful up and down and making windmill circles with my arms helps. Bisodol does usually work but takes a while to kick in. Like you a piece of toast or a plain biscuit helps too as does a x xx mall drink of milk. Mine is quite often stress related.

If I’m able to get out and walk around the garden or around the block thst helps too. My whole torso area swells up like a balloon and yes ‘tis very painful. Try some controlled breathing - big breath in through your nose - hold for as long as poss. Them breathe out fully through mouth. Do these a few time.

Xx

I have a bad attack 36 hours. Mine seems worse at night lately, losing sleep really adds to the general delibiltation ibs causes. Mines be3n ok for months. But two bacon rolls in evening didnt like me. The following day was pressed into a schone with cream and jam currents. Baked beans in the evening didnt help, so my own fault maybe. But have got a ct scan with contrast for unrelated issue Sunday. Wife says I always worry subconsciously about going, and she says thats what causes these flareups. My loo at the moment is a gas mask area. Hate being so uncomfortable and tummy being as noisy as cement mixer :(

Oh you poor thing! Not nice at all! Believe me I'm there with you!

I have both IBS and gastritis (damage at the opening of the stomach in my case caused by radiotherapy but other things cause it too) and I've found avoiding acidic foods prevents reflux and gastritis pain. Might be worth having a check of what was in your smoothy and seeing if there was anything citrus or acidic in it that might have triggered it

I have found the best way for immediate relief is a glass of cold water. Follow that up with dry toast and a ginger biscuit.
