How long does it take omeprazole to start working at reducing acid reflux?. I've been on it for 4 days and haven't really felt improvement. Thanks.

how long 'til omeprazole starts working?
Should take a week , but please do not stop taking it once it has reduced the acid, as it works on a cumulative system. Please check with the prescriber before reducing or stopping
I've been told by GPs that you need to give PPIs up to 2 months to work.
In simple terms, Omeprazole blocks stomach acid. It should be taken at least 40mins to 1hr before food to enable it suppress the acid prior to eating. Remember that food triggers production of acid which then causes irritation, hence the burning sensation experienced by sufferers.
Taking it with food means stomach acid will be produced at start of eating and not enough time for it to work. And as others said, please persevere with it. Hope it helps.
Mine works after a few hours. I only take them when I need them, the doctor knows I do this btw.
I couldn't take it as it didn't suit me and but I know of lots of people who are taking it and it works for them. Hope this helps you Gcarrica.
It took me nearly 2 weeks for it to work. I take it 1 hrs before breakfast. It does constipate me though.
I found after two days it worked but reflux worse at night so now on Esomeprazole twice a day. As long as I don’t eat lots of sugary things lot better.
