Hi I’m currently suffering from one of the following issues of either gastritis or esophagitis but can’t be sure without the camera down and been told there’s up to a 12 month wait for this on the NHS due to the coronavirus situation. I’m currently dealing with frequent bouts of nausea on and off and lack of appetite, been taking 60mg of Lanzoprasole for a week now and although the burning and discomfort has subsided as long as I’m careful with what I eat the nausea and lack of appetite has remained. I’m currently dealing with IBS issues also which is getting me down as I’m so limited on food choices to get calories in. Trying to follow a low fodmap and gastritis diet is so frustrating as a lot of the foods you can have with one issue can’t be had with the other.
How long does gastritis/esophagitis take to heal for those of you that have experienced the same issues? Will the nausea settle soon and appetite return? I’ve just started taking an anti sickness med today so will see if that helps.
Thanks

Hi I'm also trying to deal with the same issues , IBS and Gerd .It's difficult when what is good for one problem is not so good for another. FODMAP is a good place to start and has helped me lots to find a suitable solution.
I have switched to decaf tea ,lactose free milk , more fruit/veg and reduced bread/gluten intake. Also no alcohol and only low fat foods.
Can I ask if you have IBS C or IBS D. Do you suffer from pain and if so where. I can have very painful days and unable to find relief. I have had these issues for years.
Have you had a test for H pylori ? They will check when you have your endoscopy but there is home test available online.
I can see why you’re anxious about this. Without an endoscopy the determination of inflammation can’t be confirmed - just remains an assumption. I’m not sure I can offer assurance, more a note to say you are not alone. If it is gastritis, what’s causing it? Some kind of acid reflux is likely and that does need to be addressed. I’m on Cimetidine for this condition , it’s better, but it is taking time to totally sort - so your Lanzoprasole prescription may take time to take effect. I should say I’m no doctor - just some suggestions: drink lots of fluid/water (for my IBS I go for 3 Ltrs per day, sounds a lot but actually, without any extra effort, I normally reach this) This Should help with your IBS, particularly if you tend to constipation. Exercise as much as you can. I aim for a 30 minute walk first thing every day and 9 times out of 10, I need a loo when I get back home. For your stomach issues, keep a diary of what and when you eat and note when your pain starts or gets worse. Look for a trend and then address that if you can. For me, I keep my fat intake under control - this includes saturated fats. Things like chocolate, pain au chocolate, orange juice, and pizza really give me a difficult time, so I avoid. You might like to try low FODMAP diet; the recipes are brilliant, good food and generally really simple to cook up. Try to eat your evening meal a minimum of 3 hrs before bed. Good luck. A lot of this is in your hands and with a bit of care (and effort) you can probably do as much to help yourself as the benefits you will gain from the drugs.
Hi Mr_Anxious, I dont have any suggestions or tips to offer, I'm going through a similar experience, I'm on esomeprazole and have been for around 6 months , was on omeprazole for about a year prior to that, waiting for a date for camera test to check yet been waiting 6 months for that and have a yet to be diagnosed stomach issue so getting more bloods done and another stool sample and if all negative means it's most likely IBS. My GP suggested I try yoga to help with the stress aspect.
