Hello I’ve suffered with Ibs for 7 years now and a similar thing has Happened to me I’m use to having a flare up but last summer something completely changed I had a severe episode that left me with a swelling in my lower left abdomen and it’s not been the same since I’m swollen constantly nothing changed and it’s all down to this bad episode! I’m frightened all the time that it’s going to end up being cancer or something worse as I feel like my gut is so unormal . I know it’s not much help but your not the only one I know it feels like you are because none of my friends or family have it but I know the pain trust me.and I find the more I cry and stress it gets worse so I know it’s hard to not worry but just take some time out make sure your getting some time for yourself to just ride it out and hopefully things will get better all the best x
Hello I had exact same swollen feeling under the right rib as yourself and had ultrasounds and scans to rule out gallbladder and liver issues. I then requested a breath test for SIBO which came up positive. After antibiotics and low FODMAP diet I was cured of SIBO and no longer had the right sided swelling or indigestion issues. Hope this helps you.
Thank you very much that was very helpful , that was very helpful , may take the Sibo test as had fish food poisoning abroad about 5 years ago and have never felt 100 per cent since !!
Hi, I have suffered with IBS for about 16-18 years now and about 6 weeks ago had a similar pain and swelling under right rib. This hurt to lay on at night time. After 6 days of it not shifting I went to GP who arranged total blood count for me and also to see if I had Coeliac disease. Everything came back normal. I decided to watch more what I was eating and make sure I was not eating too much to often. I now have this under control, fingers crossed, cant go back to GP yet because of covid-19 he was sending me for ultra scan. I think its finding out what food disagrees with you or if your eating every half hour or so. This did not work for me, I have breakfast, about 2 hours later have a little snack, and this goes on till I have my last meal at 6pm. I don't eat after 6pm, cup of tea 7.30pm then only have water if thirsty. This has helped me, the swelling has gone away and no pain. (I do drink a glass or 2 of red wine with evening meal, ) not every night. I don't know if this will help ease your mind. Not everything works for everyone. Good luck and wish you well
