My daughter started the contraceptive pill last November a week later she started with pain bloated ness soft stools blood and excessive mucus everyday since. She had never had any problems before this. She stopped taking the pill 4 weeks ago and has just had a period, she’s not had any pain or bloating or mucus for the last 3 days.
Coincidence or not: My daughter started the... - IBS Network
Coincidence or not
She should inform her GP as she may suffer an adverse reaction to one or more ingredients in that particular brand of contraceptive pill.
Sometimes one pill is less suitable than another and may cause side effects, suggest another trip to the GP to change it. In my younger days my pill was changed twice and all was well after that
I think we’ve spoken about this before - I’m really glad she’s not suffering as baldly since stopping the pill. I’m so sure that’s what’s causing it. Imperative that you go to the GP and either change the pill or try her with a different form of contraception (like Mirena coil, implant for instance). X
I’ve spoken to the gp and we have to send in another stool sample. She has a colonoscopy booked in for the 26th of this month
Hi Poppy, I am new here. I just wanted to know how was your daughter, and did she finally get a diagnosis?
I decided to write to you after I read the results of your daughter’s tests.
You see, my Calprotectin levels were at 328, my white blood cells were a little higher than normal and my CRP at 15. I am having a colonoscopy and gastroscopy on Thursday and I am very anxious.
I am not in pain right now but was unwell in July and part of August. No blood, no mucus, no diarrhea, some soft stools, but bloating and spasms. I was diagnosed with IBS two years ago after many tests.
I hope your daughter feels better now.
Kind regards,
Alie
Hi Alie
My daughter still hasn’t been seen, no colonoscopy nothing due to the lockdown.
She’s still very much the same as she was in March. Can I ask what CRP is please. My daughter hasn’t had any blood since first episode at the start.!
How are you feeling?
Thank you
Trace
Hi Poppy,
CRP is C Reactive Protein. It shows the inflammation in your body. You need to do blood test to get this information.
I am so sorry to hear that your daughter doesn’t feel better. There is no way for her to do another blood test and ask your GP or the gastro to do all the necessary physical tests? (Colonoscopy, gastroscopy, MRI or abdominal scan) Maybe try a private clinic? I know those are expensive.
I feel much better now, but was in pain in July and half of August.
Did your daughter try the FODMAP diet?
Maybe she could look it up: changing diet always helps.
My very best wishes to you and your daughter. I hope she gets through this very soon.
Call back the GP. Tell him that she’s in pain. Push or you will never get an answer.
