IBS C flare up.

Spoke on here before about a horrible flare up a few months back and was put on 290 micrograms of linaclotide one daily. After a few weeks symptoms went away and now 3 months later having another flare up, but it seems to be coming on very slowly. Only thing different that's happening is I started my contraceptive pill a month ago and now having my first period whilst on this pill and it seems to be almost bringing on this IBS flare up. Stomach pains which are completely different to period cramps and extreme bad back ache too. (Yes I can tell the difference between period cramps and ibs as this is exact same pain as before) Anybody every noticed anything similar to this before? Could my pill be causing side effects to my ibs medication maybe? Bit unsure as I've gone so many months now with no problems.

If the problems are not too bad at the moment (that is, manageable), I would mention it to the IBS team, but carry on taking both, until next month, and if the problems reoccurred, I would ask for one of other to be changed.

Hi, the only thing I would say is that most women find their IBS to be worse during a period. I certainly did.

I can just say that across the years the things that work well do so for a while and then stop working. And my cycles, whether on birth control pills or off, affected my IBS. So it sounds normal, though I know it's not desirable.
