Are you under a gastroenterlogist and have you discussed medication with them? Medication needs to be prescribed according to your unique set of symptoms e.g. constipation or diarrhea dominant. Have a look on here:

There's lots of advice depending on what your symptoms are.
It's found that a SSRI such as Citalopram helps enormously with IBS, which I certainly can confirm in my case. Your stomach contains more serotonin than the brain, when this balance is broken it seems to upset the whole system. Although, from time to time I get stomach pain symptoms along with extreme fatigue it does make the episodes much less frequent and more manageable when it does happen; which is a big improvement on how it used to be. It's also really important that you don't get over tired, stressed or dehydrated because these can trigger a flare up.
Diverticulis is linked with celiac disease with gluten. Food intolerance tests may help through doctor. Egg dairy and gluten are the most common but multigrain allergies where gluten is present slowly recognised. However their other substances and proteins in grains which can affect you inluding rice and maize. Barley rye wheat are present coated on potatoes added to convenience foods. Malt is a derivative of drinks vinegar beer mayonnaise so you have to watch other foods. Maize is linked to for syyrup used in sorbitol. It converts to sugar in the liver. For pain spasm Co codomol helps but merbeverine relaxes the colon and may help spasm. Enzymes might help some. Hope you find the answers you need. Gluten cañ affect other body organs so having gluten tests may help but is not conclusive as had tests but had multigrain allergies but not gluten.Ha.
