Borderline inflammation (ibd) in stool test

So I got a phone call from my doc saying I have to retake stool test to make sure everything is OK as they said my stool has borderline inflammation. What does this mean exactly and should I be worried? I've been diagnosed with ibs for 2 years. I get a lot of abdominal pain, mainly on the right upper and lower near the belly button. I have alternating constipation and occasionally diarrhea with no blood in stool, and occasionally I have normal bowel movements with little to no pain. A lot of bloating and gas, gas pains. I haven't lost any weight, I've actually gained a few pounds over the last 2 years. Occasional nausea, no vomiting. I've had food allergy panel testing done, no allergies, not sure about food intolerances/sensitivies (maybe) ? All my symptoms feel more like ibs rather than ibd, can anything else cause gut inflammation other than ibd if this was the case? And my pain is mostly relieved by a bowel moment or passing gas, but at other times I have to go to the loo a few times before I feel relieved. And I also suffer with acid reflux but keeping uncontrol with omprezole which is working great for the acid reflux.

The inflammation marker (Calprotectin) is just used a guideline as to whether any further investigation is needed. My Calprotectin was extremely high and I got referred for a colonoscopy. Even then I still came back with an IBS diagnosis rather than IBD, so it doesn't necessarily mean that you have IBD. If it's borderline maybe the GP will want to repeat it? Has the GP decided not to get it investigated because it is borderline?

When you say you've had food allergy panel testing, does this mean via a test kit? If you had an allergy you would probably know it (i.e. you may end up in hospital). A lot of people with IBS have food intolerances and really the only way to find out if you have food intolerances is through a fodmap elimination & reintroduction diet. Your GP can refer you to a fodmap trained dietitian for this.

As this is my first stool sample that come back with slightly elevated inflammation which got me worried at first. But I guess your right it wouldn't necessarily mean anything as serious as ibd. I have to retake stool sample in the next 4 to 6 weeks. I have already been referred to gastroenterolgist and waiting now to see them this may. I had a food allergy blood test from doctors as it come bk OK no milk, peanut ect allergy. And I will also try fodmap elimation diet, but then again I think I know what triggers of my symptoms so will be cutting them out.
