Hi everyone . I maybe on the wrong site here as I’ve just seen it’s for ibs which I don’t have I just saw this discussion for Omeprazole. I have bee taking 1 for at least 8 years all no problem. Now my gp has said to take 2 once in the morning once at night . I’ve been on this new dose now for 1 week and I’m constantly feeling sick, very windy , cramps stomach and also my taste has altered so everything is either really bitter or really sweet. Anyone any experience of the same ?? Thanks Allan

Omoperazole
It would be worthwhile contacting your GP to let them know about this new side effect. I was under the impression that a maintenance dose of Omeprazole was 20mg per day (1 pill). I know that for some causes an initial dose of 2x 20mg is prescribed, but the dose would normally be reduced after about two weeks.
I take 2 omeprazole in the morning have been for a couple months, i get bad nausea and cramps too. Hadnt thought of this causing it, just presume it's the ibs. It would be worth talking to your gp.
Hi thanks for that. I am going back to the go with this. As I’ve only started with these symptoms since they have upped my dose. I have to take one morning and one night now and I’ve had stomach ache and cramp since
I’m on one pill a day for acid reflux, GERD, and have been for a number of years.
Why did your doctor up your dosage? If it’s making you feel so bad, and you were coping fine before, just stop taking it and go back to one a day xx
I was on Omelrazole for a couple of years and it robbed me of my sense of taste. Over time it made my IBS much, much worse. It's not a nice drug. Switch to something else if you can.
