Going through a horrible (apparent) IBS flare up which is revolving around IBS-A. This has caused me distress as I only usually suffer iBS-C without cramps just a feeling of illness if Im too bunged up (naturally..). I've complained lots on here about how an antibiotic messed me up but was glad to find out I had numerous stool tests and they found no infection (that was my fear...) but after a gruelling 11 weeks of this hell I've found that my depression/anxiety over this wears off around 2pm where usually I am flying - I wake up in the mornings, the intestines start getting terribly gassy and until about 1 I am a mess. Sometimes I have normal stools... but its either solid rocks (due to my punishing diet) or loose. Yesterday was..sort of relieving, I had solid rocks at around 10am then about 2 hours later I went and it was "normal" (getting it out my system I guess). I dont recall ANY bad incident happening at afternoon or evening except for frequent "i feel like I need to go again" moments which wear off. Last night I ate some middle eastern rice (plain but fried) and a tiny bit of hot salsa and pepsi max (If i had ANY of these in the mornings I would die!) but last night at around 11 I was able to gorge and not even feel something now. Wonder why its only as soon as I wake up?

Anyone else find nights are better?
Hi, I find generally I can eat okay in the evening. In fact like you there are certain times of day when things start to settle down a little bit. 1.40pm always sticks in my mind as though my tummy is deciding if if will settle down or just be a pain for the rest of the day. Also in the evening after about 10pm it seems to settle down quite a lot, I often say to my husband I'm feeling a lot better now and he says some thing like "where are we going then?" as often we are waiting all day for it to settle in order to get out for a little while.
I seem to find nights better if i'm having a flare too. But to be fair - by that time i've usually tried every trick i have - peppermint tea, mintec tabs, yoga, crying so something has usually worked by then
I don't know if it helps, but, like Maureen, my IBS is over by 10pm 95% of the time! My body clock is a bit screwy. I normally get up at lunch and then go to bed about 3am. I have breakfast at lunch, and then my main meal about 5pm or 6pm. No matter how good or bad my IBS is on any given day, I have nearly always finished in the loo by 10pm - and I rarely go to the loo before I have my main meal at teatime.
As I have health anxiety, it's one thing that keeps me sane. I can always think to myself that, if it was something more serious than IBS I'm sure it would affect me outside of those hours!
This timing issue is interesting. Despite having a bad stomach since antibiotics five weeks ago, it STILL sticks to the same times of day as if I were going normally. So, in my case, it's between 5pm and 8pm that my stomach will invariably play up - and when I use the bathroom. Surely if our stomachs are that screwy, they wouldn't have an alarm clock!
