Recovering from gallbladder surgery

While looking for reasons for my ling bout of ibs (6 months) it was discovered that I had Helicobactor pylori for which I was treated. Also discovered that my gallbladder was full of stones. I had it removed 3 days ago. Anyone else have this surgery and what was your experience. Mine was keyhole and one night in hospital but I feel so ill and had expected that I would feel alot better by now. Pain is gone, but so much nausea and lightheadedness. Doc says must be reaction to anaesthetic.

Anyone have anything reassuring to tell me?

Hi I had my gall bladder out 18 months ago. The first few days can be rough hang on in there it will improve. Be kind to yourself sleep when u need and try to relax. It was a good couple of weeks before I felt not so bruised. Hopefully you have some good people around you that can help. Feeling nauseous and light-headed can happen your body has been through a lot. Take care here if u need anymore advice 🙂

I had my gallbladder removed years ago...same symptoms...throwing up at home for a day or 2..then better. Just going to mention that I had chronic diarrhea for years...I think due to the removal of the gallbladder. It's called "bile acid malabsorption" and it's awful! I am now on a medication called "colestipol." I take 6 tablets a day (3 in the morning and 3 in the afternoon). Stopped my diarrhea in it's tracks! Also...welchol and questran do the same thing. So, if you start having diarrhea, ask your doctor to prescribe any of these for you.

Had my gallbladder out back in the dark ages when a large incision was the norm. I can remember being told to walk upright and have plenty of rest. 45 years later, still going strong 👍👍

My sister-in-law, and two of my friends had their gbs out via keyhole surgery. All of them felt, particularly one of my friends, felt grim - really sick for a couple of days. I had to get some anti-sickness tablets for her, she felt so terrible. They also had a few weeks of discomfort after too.

Just bear in mind that your body can’t digest fats so well now that it doesn’t have a gallbladder. So it’s worth just keeping your saturated fats lower to avoid any intestinal complaints! I hope you start to feel much better soon xx
