Any advice? Should i change my appointment or just go ahead with it. My thoughts are the prep is going to be 10x as awful as ill also be having a period...
So nervous about the prep, the procedure and if they find something

I would give them a call and explain the situation and suggest they give you another appointment. I'm with you, I think it would be easier to cope with, without a period, altogether including the actual procedure.
Hi MissEd, i would definately postpone, I went along for my colonoscopy 2 months ago, I'm at that age where I'm nearing menopause and my periods are all over the place. I got to the hospital & nipped to the loo, only to discover my period had started. It was really awkward, I let the nurse know as I didn't think they would go ahead, but as it was very light, they did. Although I was glad to get it over with, I wouldn't recommend it. The best thing to do is phone the hospital and check with them. I know it's easier said than done, but try not to worry about the procedure or the prep, I looked ahead to after it all & hopefully getting answers to help me deal with the condition & take back some control of my life. Wishing you all the best with whatever happens!
Everything ive read online suggusts its fine to have them at the same time. Ive been waiting nearly 4 months so im just going to go ahead
Go for it ! I think you will be relived once it is out of the way..
you will have a choice to be sedated/receive gas/or without anything. do what feels most comfortable and if you can go with friend to wait for you, will help ease anxiety.
I had mine a month ago with my period in full flow ... a little annoying but to be honest was the last thing on my mind and I didn’t want to postpone! They thought nothing of it when I told them at hospital so please don’t worry
Hi, Go through with your appointment, you wan’t be the first, and what if you start your period the night before or morning of. I would go and don’t use a tampon! Keep your readers up to date!
Well first 2 glasses gone. Not quite as bad as i thought but the first glass deffo went down easier that the second. Only been about 20 minutes but decided I would base myself on the loo lol
Good luck with it all ... let us know how you get on
All done and all clear so i do believe its just pesky ibs! So relieved
Ah that’s great that it’s all clear... well done for getting through the prep too ... that’s the worst part!!!
Yeah the gas I really felt to when I was having mine done ... like a stretchy pain! Glad it’s all over for you now! I just had the results of my biopsy’s back and it’s showing collagenous colitis?!? So got to do my research on that now as it appears not to be ibs! X
Hi MissEd... I know this is a somewhat old post but I’m having a colonoscopy in a couple weeks and I’m a bit scared. How did everything go for you? May I ask what symptoms you were having that made you schedule a colonoscopy? Did you ever get answers as to what was causing it all?
Hi. It was fine, i was sedated so felt tipsy lol. They didnt find anything. My symptoms are wind, change in toilet habits, blood in poo (sometimes).
Ive come to the conclusion its ibs. I have had any further tests or anything, im just learning to live with it.
Glad to hear everything turned out okay for you. My first ever colonoscopy in a colonoscopy weeks. I’m nervous but eager to get it over
