IBS-D lomotil was all that helped

Hi everyone my name is Laura ive suffered with ibs-d for around 14yrs, tried various diets, medications etc and the only one that slightly helped was lomotil tablets which are discontinued in the uk frustrating to say the least as these tablets literally gave me my life back! loperimide or codeine don't help at all, i was wondering are there any other possible medications that you've found help bung you up many thanks xxx

Have your doctor prescribe any of these 3 meds for you: Welchol, Colestipol, and/or Questran. These are wonder drugs to stop diarrhea in its tracks. I don't know about your other symptoms, but I had chronic diarrhea for years and years and I now take 6 tablets of Colestipol per day....I now have my life back!

Hi there, I've just come across your post and have had IBS-D for almost 30 years! I've been using Lomotil for all these years and, like you say, it's saved my life! When they stopped supplying it in the UK I found a supplier in India who I'd buy it from (you can buy it over the counter in some parts of the world) but now that's become impossible, too. Did you ever try the Colestipol? I'm interested. Will also look into it. Thanks, and I hope you're managing.

Hi there, Unfortunately the supplier won't send the Lomotil anymore. You can still get Lomotil in India, though you need a prescription. How have you been managing without Lomotil? I panicking here at the prospect of not being able to leave the house. Even thought of flying to India! Makes me feel like a drug addict

I’ve not really been coping just getting by day by day ,lomotil gave me my life back and since not being able to source it I feel I’ve lost any sort of life I had ! I’ve tried colestipol but doesn’t work for me at tall.

I’m just hoping for a wonder drug to give me my life back I feel in such a dark place.
