Yeast Candida and IBS

Hi,

I've been suffering from IBS for several years. My symptoms include irritable bowel and bladder, allergies, tiredness and seems like constant colds. I've noticed i have yellow tongue often.

I have been reading about Candida yeast infection and it's effects appears to match with my symptoms. However, when i went to see my NHS consultant and mentioned possibility of Candida infection he said he knew nothing about it and acted dumb on the subject which i thought strange!!

Does anyone have any experience of Candida or know where to receive testing/treatment for this condition?

Thanks

Mark

In 2017, I have four intestinal overgrowths- you're talking about oral candida I think, and you don't get that symptom with intestinal overgrowths. I had 3 intestinal Candida overgrowths, one 'other yeast' (i.e. not Candida). No one ever knew why since I have zero sugar, zero milk, zero antibiotics but stress, would be my guess. Anyway, I was REALLY sick - it's like you have brain fog like thick cotton wool, disconnect with your feet so it feels and YES, you seem to react to so so so much food. Each time I was treated with anti-fungals and now, taking much care with my diet and probiotics, I've not had an overgrowth since Sept/Oct 2017. BUT the overgrowths ruin your microflora (many GPs still don't believe the influence of microflora but it's now recognised how crucial and influential it is) and this is what takes time to get back into balance. I didn't really have IBS symptoms. I live in the Netherlands and there are a couple of labs which perform faecal tests which confirm if you have a Candida or other yeast overgrowth AND give you a detailed breakdown of your microflora so you can see what is and isn't at a normal level. I don't know where you can get that in the UK - perhaps seek out a homeopathic doctor who knows about microflora. There's no point getting a test result, after all, if you have someone who doesn;t know how to interpret it or treat you. Good luck.

Thanks Sheeniejay. Perhaps i've got oral candida and intestinal overgrowth? I need to find someone who can not just test but treat my symptoms as you said. I'm hoping someone has some information contacts in UK. I'll see if i can find a homeopath like you've said. There are clinics who test for this like Netherlands in UK but few and far between i think and probably expensive.NHS don't seem to have a clue!

Glad you're now free of overgrowth! 😊😊

I just did a quick Google britishhomeopathic.org/trea... Hopefully, you'll find one. Everyone has Candida & yeast by the way - it's just when it gets out of control that you get problems. ALso this place - if this is not near to you, I'd contact them anyway, maybe they will know who, in your area, can help. Faeces tests you can send back by post - well, for the labs I use, anyway. burghwoodclinic.co.uk/81/Ca... I should say that I haven't got my health or food freedom I had pre-Candida overgrowths - which is frustrating but I would like to think that it just takes a very long time to get your microflora back in balance.

Thanks Sheeniejay. I'll have a look the links. I'd looked at burghwood clinic but noted it is based in Poole, Dorset quite along way from me in Manchester, Lancashire but as you day they may know someone nearby. They have quite expensive fees though for theif services. Probably speak to my GP again and see if they would make referrals but probably they won't!!

Try to find a specialist at the Manchester University hospital - see if there's someone there who knows about microflora and intestinal overgrowths - get a name and see if you can be referred. I used to live in Manchester which is why I know about the hospital university! The burghwood do what you need 'Detailed stool analyses - information on healthy bacteria, bacterial (SIBO) or fungal overgrowth, amoebas and inflammatory markers e.g. calprotectin, lysozyme or sIgA' maybe google stool analysis test? I just saw these fees and yes, they're high!! As a guide, a detailed stool analysis, at 'my' labs, costs between 69 and 139 euros, depending on the level of detail and report you order. Good luck!
