Pain on both sides , just below the rib cage, went to the hospital they did a ultra sound and found gall stones which do the gall bladder is coming out May 27th . However I continue to have pain on the left side as well , I can’t eat much , carrots , oatmeal , small amount of pasta with a little tomato sauce and water to drink , this has been for the past month and sometimes some saltine crackers but I will sometimes get yellow watery stools with bloating and I am gassy a lot the surgeon says the watery stools and pain on my left is not the gall bladder but something else , anyone have similar symptoms ?

Tummy troubles ?
Hi. Have they tested you for bile salt malabsorption (or sometimes called bike acid)? I have similar problems and although I have a couple of gallstones they thought it might be something else causing that much diarrhoea. Anyway I was tested for it and it was positive. So I’ve literally just started on some sachets to have daily to see if that helps. Malabsorption is often missed or misdiagnosed as IBS so may be worth asking for the test before you have surgery? You have to take a tablet and be scanned SehCat then scanned again 7 days later. I also had a colonoscopy with a biopsy but I’m still waiting for results - that was to check for colitis. Wish you luck x
Thank you for replying . They have literally done nothing they wrote me off as gall stones. Even though I continue to have pain on both sides , with the diarrhea, I can’t get in to see my doctor until May 2nd either ! So in the mean time I afraid to eat pretty much anything . They did also find an 7 cm ovarian cyst in the ultra sound that they found the gall stones so I don’t know if that could be causing this and I have to have a follow up ultra sound for that tomorrow but it does get draining , afraid to eat sand therefore tired cause I not getting enough nutrients I am sure but I will definitely look into what you mentioned , thank you 🙂
