Hi,

I don't think mebeverine will do anything to ease your symptoms. Trapped wind is usually caused by unevacuated stool and, until you get rid of that, the gas will just stay in your bowel.

Do you have IBS-D or -C (diarrhoea or constipation or is it the mixed variety)?

Thank you for answering it’s driving me nuts

Okay, so what do you use to try and clear your bowel, e.g. laxatives, mini-enemas, suppositories?

Hi been given Fybogel just started that today

in reply toKnit50

Well, I think all you can do for the moment then is to see if the Fybogel works for you. A lot of people on here find it does the trick for them, but it's not so good for others - including me.

Come back if you get no relief or if it makes matters worse.

Fibre gel has worked for me and drink lots of water to soften anything. I find fennel or peppermint tea can soothe the pain a little. A nurse gave me infacol, it’s given to infants with colic and griping pain and that did help a bit. If fun fibre gel doesn’t work my GP gave me Movicol and that did the trick. Eating prunes can help get you going too. Hope you get some relief soon
