Does anyone else just feel generally rubbish? I’ve had IBS for years and years, but I’m so fed up with it today. I’m IBS-C predominant. I take Laxido and that works the bulk of the time. But sometimes, especially around period, I just feel exhausted, sick and utterly yuk. 🤢😞😞

I feel rubbish 😞
Yes, when my ibs is bad I always feel generally unwell too, tired, headache and no energy, it’s rotten 😥
I think it is worse around period time as you say. I am now past that thank god but I remember dreading period times because you knew it would always be worse. The menopause is pretty awful too. But once you get through that it's maybe a bit better in that each day is more or less the same.
That gives me hope! It’s been one of those days of just trying to make it to bedtime. I have bother with headaches too. Feeling a bit sorry for myself but tomorrow is a new day ❤️
I had one of those waiting for bedtime days on Sunday, that's a really good name for it. I get headaches too when I'm bunged up. You are entitled to feel sorry for yourself now and again, you wouldn't be human if you didn't, but look at your last statement, positivity, shows you're a fighter.
Yep same. I'm going through the menopause to. The mornings are worse, i wake exhausted, aching, headache, windy, moan moan. I've had enough to. I take laxido to. 🙄
I feel exactly the same but my tummy gets more upset and I get more panic attack’s wanting the toilet. I’ve been sticking to low FODMAP but sometimes that exhausting to because it can be hit and miss.
It is exhausting. The anxiety of it is just entirely wearisome. I cut out wheat some years ago and that does help me. I also watch my diary intake. But some days it just doesn’t matter - IBS is very unpredictable
I’ve just started cutting out wheat never had a problem, dairy is a massive no go for me. It’s been nice Joining this forum realising your not on your own, that things you think might be interlink other people are suffering as well. My Ibs is much worse when due on, I kind of cut down anything and everything to get through first few days.
Hi, it's really hard to hang on in there especially on those tough days. I tend to be really fragile and a bad day just sends me right down but I try to find little things to look forward to - the things you take for granted when you have good health. I also get bad headaches which can last for days. I hope tomorrow is a better day for you and that there will be many more of them to come.
Thank you ❤️. Today has been better - I thought my head might burst last night, but it was bearable by this morning. I have chronic daily headache, so it’s a good day when it’s manageable! I’ve had more energy today and my gut has mainly behaved.
I’m sorry you go through all this too. It’s hard not to get weighed down by it all. Xx
Really feel for you. It's so hard to deal with all that. My headaches get much worse with noise. I wonder if anything triggers your headaches. Your headache sounds like a migraine.
So glad today has been a bit better for you. It means so much when you get some relief. Thanks for your kind words. Think it helps to share with others who know how you feel.
Hello,
I don't think people in general (and most doctors) realize how unwell IBS can make you feel. Yes really YUK. Not 'just' the D or C, but the accompanying pain, tiredness, nausea, muzzy head, headaches etc. I am totally and utterly fed up with it, but at least am beyond an awful menopause now. Hope you have picked up a bit now and also that you have some good days too.
I couldn’t agree with you more about doctors! I think once they’ve ruled out anything sinister, and slapped the IBS label on it, they really don’t care. It’s so under their radar, they don’t know how much we suffer. You only have to read through this forum to see that so many people feel absolutely grim, with such a variety of symptoms. Xx
Hi I’ve been suffering with IBS for 5/6 years now and going back and forth with the doctors with not much help.
I would say watch your diet especially your trigger foods like spicy food, milk, junk food for me and to avoid them. Also try not to stress out too much as that helps. If anything just take peppermint oil tablets and use a hot water bottle.
I wish there was a cure for IBS but I’ve just had to suck it up for years now and deal with going to the toilet 2-4 times a day which is my norm.
Find a distraction or a hobby so you can enjoy that on days when you don’t feel crap.
I’m sorry you’re suffering too. I wish there was a cure also! But, as you say, a lot of it is just sucking it up. I’ve had IBS since I was 11 (I’m 44 now) and it’s certainly been a rollercoaster. Cutting out wheat and lowering dairy and fatty foods has helped in the main. But IBS is still there. It likes to keep me on my toes.
Unfortunately, I also have Generalised Anxiety Disorder. So I struggle with feelings of stress and anxiety. Never a dull moment, huh? X
