Good morning all
My GP has finally agreed that there is a link between IBSD and hormones. I am nearly 46 and have been prescribed HRT, both hormones, in the hope it may help reduce my symptoms. Has anyone had any experience of HRT and IBSD please.

Hi Claire44, I am 47 and edging into the menspause . I have discussed HRT with my GP but they don't want to start me on it until my periods stop. For years I have noticed my IBSD is much worse in the days leading up to my period and for the first few days into it. In my experience there is a link between hormone changes and IBS. Take care X
Yes, I am on HRT..I think it does help..how are you feeling now? Keep me posted. I was just prescribed a different HRT med..
I just started HRT 4 months ago. Feeling wonderful now. Never caused me diarrhea, but I have had chronic diarrhea for years and finally found 2 drugs that kick it in it's hateful arse: Welchol and Colestipol, with Colestipol being less expensive. I'm finally free from that flippin' monster! Might want to tell your doctor about it.
Thanks for all your replies. I am due to start it in September, as my blood pressure was a little high. I will ask my doctor about the other medication. I will try anything to help get things under control xx
Good luck Claire. Keep us posted as I definitely think my cycle is connected to my ibs-d too. Doesn't matter what I eat or how calm i am my toilet visits are awful week before I'm due !! Will speak to my GO about these drugs as can't go anywhere socially without being close to the loo x
