Hi all i already have COPD a chronic lung disease ( diagnosed November last year ) which was a huge shock and took awhile to accept and deal with the symptoms, feel i am getting there now. Anyway about a month ago i was diagnosed with IBS as well, i still havent got my head around it. I feel sick a lot of the time get bloated easily as well as all the other pleasant symptoms. I am going away in a couple of weeks time and i will be travelling a short journey by plane. Travelling has always made me anxious and gives me lots of loo trips before i even leave the house. I was like this about travelling before i had IBS . I am considering taking Imodium before i leave and possible for a couple of days to stop or slow up the symptoms of IBS while i am away. Has anyone else done this ? Thanks for any replies of advice. Jill

Jill777: Have your doctor prescribe you either Welchol or Colestipol. Either of these 2 drugs will stop diarrhea in it's tracks almost immediately. Much better than immodium. I have taken both...welchol is much more expensive over here in the US, though, so I've switched to Colestipol. Look them up! Tell your doctor...never have diarrhea again!

Hi Jill777, yes I took Imodium the last time I had to take a flight. Like you I get very anxious when I have to travel . I also did lots of deep breathing and made a real effort to try and stay relaxed. Managed to get through the flight there and back with no major issues. Very best of luck xx
