I wake up of a morning feeling fine, then I get up and it starts the cramp kn the top of my stomach my stomach swells up and then I'm stuck on the toilet for 20 minutes, then I have my buscopan and travel to work go straight to the toilet and sit there for 10 mins with severe wind and diarrhoea then I take my first mebeverenne which helps with the sickness and through out the day I just keep having to run to the toilet, it only ever eases if I lie on my back and sleep, does any have and dietary advice or some musical advice to help me sort this out

Hello. I feel for you. If any consolation,,,, when I get my pains, I faint as I cannot bear it. After all the '....copies' I mean endoscopy, etc etc.. Doctor put me on the same tabs that you are taking and told me I should take one every morning. I never took them.

Has anyone advised you to keep a food diary to find out what food affects you? Done a food allergy test? I was referred to a dietician and she put me on the FODMAP. This helped me to identify what food affects my stomach.

When I feel that I am going to start a bout of aches and will faint ( I have identified the signs) I take a COLPERMIN tab (this is an over the counter product). But as the saying goes 'nip it in the bud'. I also drink the 'forever aloe vera juice'. (This is the pure juice not the ones you get in the shops). If I get late to take any of these, then no hope... the whole household will be around me. … as I struggle with the pains and try my best not to pass out.

One thing I have found out is that everything has to be trial and error. What answers for me might not be for you. I hope I have been of some help.

I agree re. the FODMAP diet. Also try to see a fodmap trained dietician. There is a book on Amazon by Patsy Catsos that is very helpful. Also, wonderful picture!!!!!!

Aww..love the picture of the dogs. Have you tried Levsin or Bentyl? It helps a lot with cramps and loose stools..also a good probiotic.

Sorry to hear of your IBS problems! It never helped me to take Buscopan or Mebeverin for my IBS - total waste of time. The only thing which ever stopped the diarrhea in its tracks was Imodium (which you can buy over the counter at any chemists). Although it made me constipated for a couple of days, even that was a relief! However, I needed to stop the spasms before the D took control - consulted my GP son-in-law and he suggested Codeine Phosphate 15mg. It has saved my sanity - not to mention restored my confidence in going out and about! I am aware of course that everyone is different and trial and error is the only thing that helps, but do try Codeine Phosphate to see it can help you as much as it has helped me. Your GP can prescribe it. Good luck.

Thanks for the advice, I've tried Imodium and it never touched it, I think the food plan is the way forward but sometimes I just have a drink of water and the pain starts, the only day I felt great and this is weird I went out to watch the world cup got quite drunk went home was sick for about three hours woke up the next day and never had a problem for a few days. This has got to be the most stupid illness ever. I've also tried to reduce my gluten intake but to be honest I don't actually know what gluten is. Well I've written down all what you've recommended. Does anyone know a number of a dietician were I can get some advice

Yeh i know this prob

It all consuming!!!

I have always had constipation but about 18months ago it got severe and was diagnosed ibs c.

I was so ill it never stopped all night all day the pain was never ending some days there in back ground somedays lay on floor crying pain.

My friend a nautrionalist

Suggested goin gluten dairy and yeast free as they all Clog u up and make digestive system slow so i did this.

I also take a probiotic , digestive enzyme and peppernint capsule 2 x a day and i noticed difference after 2 weeks.

I asked her if this is just for c and she said it should sort out most people with c or d

And try not to eat things like onions garlic and red meat!

It has worked well

For me i go to toilet every day now and it has made alot of diff to me in everything, hair nails weight skin everything!

I have tried to stop the gluten but as I don't understand about foods it's quite hard, I have no idea what yeast is so have no idea where to start there and the only dairy I have I a bit of milk in my tea a couple of times a day. I'm just going through the constipation stage now, my stomach feels so full and then the diarrhoea will start. I have noticed though when I'm working hard it all seems to ease but then when I rest it comes back, also if I have a couple of pints of premium lager it completely eases of but it comes back the next day a little worse. I just wish there was more literature on it. I've had the camera down my throat I've had an mri I'm sure they even did the test to see if I was pregnant which was strange . And everything has came back clear. I just really don't understand what's going on in there

Yeh i know what u mean i had to learn so much about food.

Yeast it what is in bread and lager, beer it is what make it rise and expand and thats also what it does in ur belly that why after yeasty food u always feel full and bloated , i gave up bread 18 months ago as i noticed it just made me bloated and feel rough after

Also u give up bread that alot of gluten to.

Easy way to go gluten free is to stick to good clean food which will also help ur stomach heal, try it for couple week if it works u know it is gluten.

So i have a gluten free cereal i use soya milk! It cheaper then normal milk( get mine from aldi or lidl) then lunch il have veg and hummous then for evening i have anything really, turkey and veg or chicken and veg or salad , jacket pots. Gluten free pizza homemade it simple. I did this for 6 weeks and realised my symptons went.

Also u mentioned lager or beer that a no no alot of people with ibs have that as a trigger it full of yeast and gluten( hops) try another drink, gin vodka a spirit of some sort.

I also just go to all the supermarket and stock up on all my gluten free food ie pasta and biscuits and cereal so u have the basic at home.....

Hi i have had IBS for 20+ years and have finally managed to get it under a degree of control. I had both constipation and diarrhoea, bloating and cramps and would come over dizzy and feel like i would pass out! Like the other replies have stated, its trial and error. Buscopan, fibregel didnt work for me so i kept a food diary (boring i know) but found that when i ate proper bread, the store fresh baked tiger bread type or too much dairy or Dominoes pizza - id have an attack/episode lol

So i make better choices now and keep

an eye on the amount of bread i eat and for the most part eat gluten free pasta or spelt pasta, some gluten free breads or wraps, soya milk & a couple of times a week i use Hollands and Barretts Slimmatee which helps to ensure i stay regular. Plus i do like to get an abdominal massage now and then to help my digestion too! Im much happier now and only get a handful of episodes a year now! It seems to work for me

I hope you manage to take control of it xx
