Have to start fresh again, since Friday night I've been in a terrible state IBS flared up all night I had abdominal pain I've noticed now that there is a new symptom that I experience since before I saw my dietician my bones hurt now. The tiredness is wearing me out got blood results back I knew it cam back clear which it did. I believe what led to Friday night is I ate too much in between I'm not too sure.

I went yoga on Sunday because I hadn't gone past 2 weeks usually on wed being poorly. So now I guess I have to eat light any tips would be great so far I stick to ginger lemongrass tea, toast with nutella and strawberries, innocent smoothie green one, salad, yoghurt with granola, fried egg with beans mushroom spinach, weetabix (this is what I usually have) and my mum's homemade food I only eat a little bit. Any small meal ideas that I can make?

I would suggest you try the FODMAP exclusion diet, then after a few weeks, if your gut has settled down, test for the various triggers (wheat, onion, lactose, particular fruits etc). It's helped me. Apparently wheat and onion are the most common triggers, but everyone's different.

I checked out the FODMAP diet, found there were too many allowed foods that set my IBS off, yet there were forbidden foods that I found no problem.

I had chronic diarrhea for years and finally found a doctor who prescribed me a drug called "Welchol." Stopped my problem immediately! It's very expensive, though, so he put me on another one called "Colestipol." Did the same thing! I feel free for the first time in YEARS! These drugs are used to lower cholesterol, but they are usually prescribed along with a statin, because they are NOT statins...they are bile acid sequestrants, hence the reduction or total stoppage of diarrhea. They are also used to treat Type II diabetes. I have neither of these and I'm doing fine. Ask your doctor and/or pharmacists about them..please! You will not be disappointed.

When my sister had a flare, the doctor told her to lay off fresh uncooked veggies for a while because they could cause gas which might aggravate symptoms. I know it's hard to know what to eat and that can be maddening! Eat a few small meals throughout the day, don't drink soda. How about crackers and peanut butter? Right now my stomach is making all kinds of weird noises and I'm almost afraid to eat. I think stress brought on my IBS symptoms so I'm trying not to worry and obsess about it all! My sister's doctor told her to use an acid reducer and an antacid for no longer than two weeks. I'm not sure about the bone pain, hopefully that will go away for you! I do know that stress has a horrible effect on the body so try to deal with the stress!

Have you tried a low residue diet? Don't do it for more than a week or so, then go on a low fibre diet. There are plenty of websites around that have both diets.

I have found that most foods with seeds and/or skins set my IBS off. I am ok with strawberries, but that is about the only fruit I can eat that has seeds. I can't eat any leafy vegetable, including salads. Granola has dried fruit, oats and nuts, all known to be high fibre. As for beans............. don't go down that route at all. Weetabix is also very high in fibre, have Special K with vanilla yogurt, preferably live yogurt instead.
