I have had IBS for 15 years. Mainly IBS-C and have managed one way or another to cope with it with the usual ups and downs. But now I'm in a bad flare up with some new symptoms and wonder if any of you can identify with these:
As soon as I've had a bowel movement (much softer and easier at the moment) I feel like I need to go again. There's a heavy, achey feeling in my rectum and an ache across my lower abdomen. Also, and actually more of an issue, I feel like I need to wee all the time, even when I've just been. There's no pain passing urine as in a UTI, just this infernal nagging feeling. It makes it hard to sleep because as soon as I lie down I am very uncomfortable and feel I need to go back to the bathroom. I know IBS can cause urinary symptoms but I just don't know how to cope with this.
Can anyone identify with this and have you found anything to help?
Thanks for any advice.

I get this all the time when I'm having a flare up, I think what it might be is, during this time, we are very anxious and the bowels sort of blow up in parts like a balloon does when it's pressed in one area. This then presses on the bladder causing us to want to wee more often. Try to calm yourself and let this pass. Take your mind off it by doing other things you like doing, it helps. Get out for a walk if you can, take care
Yes, I got irritability in both bowel and bladder when I was taking Moviprep for a recent colonoscopy, it lasted a few days but did go off. Alas, us ladies have all our bits in one place which doesn't help.
Yes i do feel like that too. A heavy feeling pressing down. I think the bowel presses on the bladder esp when you are constipated. I asked the nurse practioner recently but she just said don't drink much liquid in the evening, esp coffee and tea so i am not kept awake. Trouble is you are supposed to keep hydrated with constipation, so its trial and error
Definitely can relate. Ask your doctor about interstitial cystitis. There are many treatments for relief IF you can find a doctor who will take the time to treat this condition. Best of luck! Bh
