Back pain and ibs

I have been suffering with constant headaches for last 5 years ,and have recently been dignosed with ibs which apparently is linked to my headaches,my question is does anybody suffer with severe pain in their back after eating ,if so what can I do to help alleviate it,I am not convinced it is ibs as I have tried lots of things myself ie. Dairy free diet ,gluten free diets etc,my symptoms have got progressively worse over the last five years . I have tried every medication that my doctors or consultants could prescribe with no improvement whatsoever.

I def get lower back pain particularly on the lower left side. Along with the usual stomach problems. Headaches can be caused by stress and anxiety which are common with IBS sufferers. Everyone seems to have different symptoms. It is hard to give advice as to what to foods to omit from your diet. It is process of elimination. Also sometimes i find it changes. Sitting up right and relaxing without slouching and eating slowly helps. Having Back support helps food move down my system better. After sitting for a little while to stop indigestion. Then walking around the block can help. Have you tried the fodmap diet?. This helps me get my cycle back to some sort of normality. You should see a doctor if symptoms get worse or you need more advice. Doctors can give medication to help with pain. But there is no cure. Had it for over 20 years now. part of my life now. 😊Good luck.

Hi ya. Don't know if you have ibsd or ibsc. Your symptoms are same as mine, I have ibsc. Mine became "better" by drinking lot more water and adding " healthy fats" to my diet. Like a Mediterranean way of eating. L x

Yes i get a headache with my ibs concentrated over one eye for some reason. Migraine common with ibs apparently. Also backache when i am constipated, but i suppose that figures if your colon is blocked.

I also have headache concentrated over my left eye,but of late I am suffering more with back pain more on my left and upper back. Doctors visit proved a waste of time as he put it down to muscle pull , I know my own body and it isn't a pulled muscle , feel like I'm going round in circles.

I get back pain but been told it’s not my back but actually my stomach hurting. I also get pain on left side which is where your small intestines start. Drinking lots water helps flush your stomach so if you’ve eaten anything that’s triggered it to hurt your helping to remove that too.

Hi I have had a bad back for 55 years multi level disc problems, Doctors took no notice

Two years ago I managed to get an MRI scan

Which proved I did have serious back problems,

Because the average GP is not very knowledgable regarding back problems and the hidden effects they can have on your health, you are unlikely to get anywhere,

I am still struggling, I have spent years researching back problems, and they can have a profound effect on you health, interference of the nerves, can effect virtually any part of your body, if you have nerve impingments

Between your shoulder blades going through to you breast bone, this can cause all manor of gastric problems, acid reflux is a common one, and this can kill, if cancer sets in, doctors will give anti acids, you have to find the cause, and put that right,

I have no idea if your problems are back related, but it may be worth asking a chairopractor about your problems, see What they think, I am 80 and still can’t get any where with our NHS, read the book,” The back and beyond “ by Dr Paul Sherwood, your back your health a later version is cheaper. Used from amazon £ 2.80 inc post,

Regards Bryan

Hi there,

The constant headaches, back pressure and headaches make me think of nervous tension: sickofibs.com/ibs-triggers/...

There are a couple of things you could try to reduce pressure in your head:

- Dab 1 drop essential oil of peppermint onto your finger and massage it into your temples, keeping it away from your eyes. Remember to wash your hands afterwards. (ask your chemist for details).

- Rinse a flannel in hot water and place it over each eye.
