Silicolgel make you bloated

Hi

Only taken 3 doses so far of silicolgel and wonder if it’s making me even more bloated! Have IBS, cramps, pains , contractions but going to the loo is ok.

If anyone has experienced this or any side effects on silicolgel , it’d be good to hear.

Thank you 🙏

I tried it , was not to sucessful , i find buscopan works best for me in flare ups and i use it when on period.

Other then that i realised only way to control ibs is with a good diet, also little and often do not eat big meals it makes ur digestive system work harder to get food out.

I take probiotic, digestive enzymes, peppermint oil capaules and all in all that all keeps it normal most of time. If it flares up buscopan only thing

I use bioglan gut flora probiotic every day half hour before

U eat and cytoplans digestive enzymes again half hour before u eat. It settles all stomach and helps u digest through day.

I also take a peppermint oil capsule after lunch so it helps with wind and indigestion.

Thats ok no probs. Any help u need im here, i havent got all the answers but il try.

It a very hard thing to deal

With ibs, one day ur fine with something the next ur not??

I find that trying to keep ur gut flora healthy is the best way to deal with it. So no spice, no gluten, no dairy but loads of green veg, fruit( if u can tolerate it) and no processed foods and not much sugar.

Also lots of water when u eat to flush through colon and digestive system.

Il still have bad days, monday i was so ill and doubled over as ate to much red meat for sunday dinner but body couldnt digest it and i was doubled up all monday till i eventually 💩it out then i was fine lol..... the joy

My partner finds Silicogel very helpful. You do however have to be careful not to eat straight away after taking it, and same with taking medicines of any type. At least one hour before or after taking the gel for food and medicines.

Thank you for replying Rosiepie. I decided to not take it anymore due to bloating and not going to loo.

I have found Symprove and A2 milk very helpful. Also Afflorex, another probiotic, is meant to have evidence behind it. Good luck.

Thank you for your reply cpidoc. Have tried symprove , although not for long and alflorex for a month. Haven’t tried A2 milk.

Beginning to think now that perhaps it’s this brain/ gut link!

I have also tried it ..as it make things firmer if you suffer from diahrrea , but at the same time it activates the gut muscles in an exhausting way leading me to " need to go " like forever and couldn't stop for a whole day !! what a way to live prisoner in the bathroom " taking into consideration that my diet is too strict dairy / nut free no meat.. no fish..no veggies or fruits of any kind ..the only sweat I can tolerate is Jello ..bland food all the time meaning no spices especially garlic and onions which are my number one enemy !! mostly what i eat is just plain white rice / white toast and in good days white plain pasta without any sauce what so ever ) despite my restricted diet the silicol gel kept me going as if have eaten on behalf a whole village ?!! where does this even come from ?!! 🤔😩

Totally drained the next day 😳😳 with No energy even to hold a cup of water resulting in a full bed day (slept the whole day due to severe exhaustion )

i decided NOT to go through this torture again and ditched it .

Now i'm under anti depressants and anti psychotic that my doctor think will relieve the diahrrea and constant spasms .

This is just my first week and i'm planning to write a review about it after at least giving it a month to work "as these types of medication don't work immediately like imodium or buscopan ( now i call both these meds Baby stuff as they don't work well with me )

All the best 🌹

I know this is an old post but I tried silicol gel for the 1st time last week when I got just a bit of a flare going on. It didn't firm my bm's at all the following day after taking it, but I just felt like I hadn't gone properly in the morning and only passed a little bit.

So it was almost like a constipated thing, yet with too-soft stool.

I only took it for one day while I was flaring.

Then in the few days after that the flare eased up somewhat. But the bloating and a weird pain-like sensation started low down on the left. Like a trapped wind feeling or like I had a stone stuck inside which was happening more or less all the time and worse after eating. The only time I didn't notice it so much was just after a bm, and when walking outside.

I hadn't had a feeling quite like that before. I don't know...but wonder if it had anything to do with taking silicol gel.

I haven't given up on it and am saving it for flare days, but I didn't notice much benefit to be honest.
