Has anyone used silicolgel for IBS? I’ve seen adverts and wonder if it’s worth giving it a try. I have stomach pains, flatulance, urgency to go problems. I know some of it is caused by food and a lot of it is anxiety related.

silicolgel
Yes I tried Silcolgel. To be honest I'm not sure I gave it a fair trial. I got some and took it during a very bad flare some time ago when I had bad diarrhea and was going 9 times a day.
But at the same time I also went on the boiled egg, white fish and white rice diet of mine which is usually binding, plus I was taking Tormentil tincture. I am not sure if the flare would have calmed anyway without the Silicol gel. Another time I had a flare, I just took Tormentil tincture plus the binding diet , and that also resolved in a couple of days.
So I don't know....
The best thing is for you to try it, and see how it might help you.
I hated the texture of it. It's gag-worthy taken neat. It's like drinking wallpaper paste! With some water it's much nicer to drink even though tasteless and not much fun.
I have used it a few times whilst travelling and in a flare. It does help to calm everything down.
Hi, I use it and I find it brilliant, but I know it's not for everyone. It really soothes my tum.
Hi there yes I use this quite a bit usually at the weekend before i go out for a meal or drinks it really helps push me through the night
I have seen them advertised on the TV also and was wondering if they are any good as they show them for 3 of the IBS problems in my case I would all 3 of the packs that is on there it's a pity they don't do just the single tablet 2 help with all the problems that we fellow suffers have to cope/deal with each and every day as all ways it's a minefield trying to find something that can help us!!! as we all need that special pill 2 take to make us better well I wish you well with what ever you try and do!! Sorry I can't be of any use take care and keep as well as you can? X
Hi I haven't tried it but friend did and said it gave her stomach pain. I was wondering about this drug that i've bought but been scared to try... called Enteroscogel. Sorry for hijacking your thread but since topic is drugs..
So far modern medicine seems to have done me my more harm than good and changing my diet helped the most. I did low fodmap and then an allergy elimination diet. I wish i'd done the second diet first. Tho i have developed even more food allergies, or had them all along and didnt realise (possibly!). Dairy is the most common allergy but i never suspected it as i ate loads of cheese.
Don’t worry about hijacking, all information is good to know. 😀 I’d be interested to hear if enteroscogel helps. Avoiding certain foods helps me too, particularly onions, garlic, certain vegetables and spicy foods. Stress and anxiety also make my symptoms worse but dealing with those are easier said than done.
Solicogel has been a life saver for me. I have IBS-D and it helps me 100%. My gastroenterologist actually recommended it for diarrhoea and was surprised I was already using it! Would definitely recommend.
hi, yes I’ve used it. It worked for me but it’s vey expensive. Your best bet is to see your consultant & ask him to prescribe tablets especially for IBS.
I usually have one 15mg codeine to slow my gut down but when drinking alcohol can't have codeine so usually have a tablespoon of silicolgel and then another one if I go again as can't take imodium due a heart issue but seems to do the job but still quite farty .
