Bowel transit time

Hey! Ok I constantly feel the urge to poop, I mean all day long!! I never feel empty and whenever I go to the loo I can easily poop! Now today I had rocket salad on a sandwich for lunch, the past couple of days I've only been eating toast and rice! This evening I've been to the loo and there was undigested bits of green salad! Now I'm panicking and wondering what is 'average' transit time, I'm feeling this is too quick!!! ?? Any advice would be much appreciated!xx

Hi. Sounds awful. I’ve had that once after eating spag Bol at a restaurant. As yours is constant some more serious causes need to be ruled out and if you haven’t seen already you need your gp to check a few things. I’m sure it’s nothing to serious but do get checked.

Have you tried some natural yoghurt or some Actimel? Some good bacteria may help regulate your bowl motility a bit you also need some stool cultures to rule out 2 most common bugs GD and H Pylori

Do see your doctor soon as possible good luck x

It’s possible it is just ibs. I’ve had ibs since my 20’s and you tend to go through phases of unable to go to toilet and need to use laxatives and some meds to stop cramping or phases of oh god I can’t leave bathroom. Have you lost any weight? That would give you an indication of if your bowl is able to absorb nutrients from food which is really important. I totally get you sticking to toast but that may actually not be helping. You get something called “overflow”. Essentially it’s when motions get stuck and the faecle matter behind liquifies past. Do you get pain? The large intestine spasms to move along bowl contents normally cause pain.

Only reason I say about cultures is there are two nasty little bugs that can live in bowl. Both very treatable but takes 12 weeks of medication. They produce similar symptoms with nausea sometimes x

Hey, thank you for your reply, no not lost any weight! Maybe I can't tolerate leafy salads!! Ffs! Dairy, eggs, possibly bread!! Green leafs! Looks like I should just stick to rice and chicken!! Haha!! I don't suffer with pain, just a very gurgly bowel and constant need to go! I do have some good days, but that tends to be if I overdose on Imodium!! 😂😂 xx I see you've not had a great day, I appreciate you taking time out to chat! X
