IBS-D sufferers do you suffer this on a daily occurance? If so numerous times a day or just once? Do you get a warm burning feeling on your bum (exit bit) and do you feel all the loose poop churning around your exit end of the large intestine? Many a time I've gone to do what I think is a trump (as thought the churning was wind) then feel a warm bubble and have to manically find a toilet, I'm totally mortified when this happens It feels like I loosing control of my bowels . Also, I often feel like my whole insides are falling out! Especially when I've had to go numerous times to the loo!!
Soooo fed up with this life my anxiety is horrendous because of it! Wondering desperately if this is usual IBS -D !!??

Hey! Wow we are complete opposites! I definitely can not tolerate dairy or red meats! I stick to chicken rice and low fibre as high fibre makes me worse too! My diet is very bland but I'm still having issues! Having just seen a nutritional therapist she thinks the amount of sugar in my diet is not good! So I am now trying to reduce that and also gluten! I'm screwed as I love my tea and biscuits dunked in! Xx
We totally can not win! I know all the gluten free breads didn't agree with me either so now I had to be wheat free I can only think of eating chips, crisps and baked potatoe!!! Haha!! I've also just got some digestive enzymes and a prebiotic to try! To try and help my gut microbiome! I'm just willing for firm poops all the time!! 🙏😋 I'll let you know how the sugar thing goes! I've gone down from 1sugar in my tea to half a sugar! Little steps 😂😂xx
I can totally relate to what you're going through , I have been house trapped for a year now because of this never ending circle of torture 😓 i was at the edge of seriously loosing my brain ..my sanity to the point that i was referred to a psychiatric , he prescribed me the Antidepressant Tryptizol ( generic name : Amitriptyline ) this drug obviously firmed my stools to the degree of constipation ! but sadly i had to stop it as i developed bladder cystitis and kidney stones due to severe urine retention , in addition to being so sleepy all day ..i heard that in the U.K there is a newer version of this drug called " Nortriptyline " which has the same benefits but with less side effects so may be you can ask your doctor about it.
so currently i'm on the anti psychotic "Dogmatil " which dramatically firmed my BM's , but didn't lessen the frequency of toilet trips nor the excessive gas problem ..but at least it is much better to see and feel harder motions.. since constant loose BMs or diahrrea used to make me sick all the time 😳😩
the drug in U.K is called " Dolmatil "
so now i'm trying to work on the frequency and excessive gas by searching for good probiotics and digestive enzymes hoping they can ease these other ibs symptoms .
Try asking for a low dose of tricyclic antidepressant ..it might work for you better than me ..Good luck for all of us here trying to find our way out of this bloody dilemma 😥
Just a thought, have you tried a probiotic? I suffered in the same way for years trips to dietician, 2 colonoscopies, etc tried fodmap etc.Gastrologist eventually suggested trying Symprove (not cheap) but after the introductory course of around 12 weeks my bowels were almost normal. I'm taking a reduced dose every other day now and have got my life back.May be worth a try - good luck, I feel for you.
You poor thing, I seem to have been obsessed with my bowels for ever....at primary school I wet myself in front of my class mates......even though this wasn't bowel but I remember the ghastly embarrassment......I had a colonoscopy and nothing found....just told it was having children!..I am going through a rush to loo period..happens in the morning after breakfast...I am trying to manage it by certain steps...an Imodium at night, in the morning I dare not think that wind can be ignored....first signs of wind...go to loo.....and this may sound trivial....make sure the loo seat is up....by the time I have pulled knickers down, and bent down to pull up lid...it's too late......sorry if these sound trivial, but I'm a firm believer in small steps.
Hey thanks for your reply! When they told you it's from having children, did they explain further?? Did you suffer any problems with childbirth? I'm only asking cos I'm convinced mines happened since childbirth but they keep telling me it's stress!! I had pre eclampsia with my first and HELP syndrome, I've recently seen a nutritional therapist and she says it's known that with pre clampsia it can mess the Imbalance of our gut microbiome so I have just started on some digestive enzymes and a prebiotic to try help improve that!! I'll let you know if I notice any improvement! Xx
Hi Flik....the consultant meant about childbirth as A.how many children have I had.....2 .....B was it a vaginal delivery and any problems? I replied that my second child was a vaginal delivery..but she was face to pubes..in other word on her back!....vaginal delivery wrecks our down below bits!.....in other words childbirth puts strain on our bladder and bowels...I suppose pelvic floor exercises could help....by the way I bought a plastic ring from Amazon....it's a large ring you put between your legs and squeeze it together.look doctors seem to blame everything on stress....an excuse when they don't know what's wrong.....I speak as a retired nurse. I am very sceptical about pre eclampsia has anything to do with bacteria.......it's a condition due to raised blood pressure...any all the best flik, keep me posted
Hey! Thanks for replying! Yes I suffered 3rd degree tears with both my boys!! Suppose not surprising things are weaker down there!! Pelvic floor sounds a good, it's one of them that as soon as you hear the words 'pelvic floor' we all do it, but to remember to do it regularly I seem to struggle!! Docs say it's stress chuck anti depressants at you and say go deal with your IBS!! I'm hoping the digestive enzymes and prebiotic help!! Otherwise I'm going back to the doc to demand more tests!! Xx
I don't have the full D on a daily basis, but the way you describe it is very much what I go through when it happens. It's often when I'm at work. Usually I go number 2 before leaving home in the AM, but sometimes around the 2pm mark I'll start getting a gassy feeling really low in my gut, which is usually a sign that the countdown to D has begun. I'll end up going between 2 and 5 times in a 30 minute period. But I always always always keep imodium with me and sometimes as soon as the rumblings begin I will take one to start calming things down in there. After going a couple times, I might take a second imodium. It's really the only medicine that has been able to give me relief with the terrible D attacks occur.
