Calprotectin Testing.

The GP submitted my stool sample for calprotectin testing. It came back not tested because I am over 60. Is this normal, or just in my area? Why are over 60s discriminated in this way? It is only an ELISA test for a specific protein, a process that is used in food businesses all the time to detect allergens. Not a difficult or particularly expensive test. I would like to know why. If it is unreliable in over 60s, fair enough. The GP had no idea either.
