Has anyone got any feedback on this drug? I am afraid to try as I have read that coming off it is a nightmare

It is also known as Mirtazapine. I took it for a while but it did not help me but we are all different and it might help you! I cannot remember problems when I came off it. I would suggest that you discuss your concerns with who ever wants to prescribe it for you.

Hi, I have been on Remeron (Mirtazapine) at different strengths and due to my IBS causing me depression my doctor increased the dose from 30mg to 45mg last week. In my experience it is a very good drug for anxiety as it has sedating effects. I've lost my appetite, so I won't mind the effect of increasing the appetite. It's also known to put weight on, but my need to take it is greater than the possible weight gain at the moment. I have not heard of a problem coming off it, but whichever antidepressant you take, you should be weaned off it slowly - your doctor will advise when the time is right. Don't be afraid of going on Mirtazapine, but you have to wait several weeks to gain full benefit. Good luck, whatever you decide to do. 😊
