Could black pepper be my problem

So apparently black pepper can upset the stomach, when I think about it I put black pepper on about everything, so I am experimenting with zero black pepper, or as close to that as I can get. I will report back my findings..............dare to dream :)

I would be interested to read your answer. I am trying so hard to cope with IBS and have got a positive list up on my fridge for everything that is ok to eat. I am finding it really hard to eat in cafes when i am out and about. Also i dont know if you have noticed but a lot of things that say gluten free are very high in sugar. I just cant win it seems. Don’t think there’s any doubt that black pepper aggravates IBS symptoms. I can guarantee that if I ‘lapse’ and use it in or on food I will get lower intestine pain and ‘disruption’(!)

Other irritants can be strong curry spices, chillis and paprika - hardly surprising really...

I think you’re due for a vast improvement!

No way!! I thought black pepper helped with digestion so I put it on EVERYTHING! 100% going to try not having it now and see if that helps as I’m really bad at the minute.

Thank you Huggit. Oh Huggit that’s sooo interesting!! I also put black pepper on EVERYTHING because I thought if it was ok with the Fodmap diet it must be harmless.... I remember now that I once put quite a bit of pepper on the food and I was really bad afterwards (and couldn’t work out why and was wondering about the pepper). I will instantly stop the pepper as well. Please let us know how you’re doing as you’re several days ahead of us !!

I will do but things are going ok so far, I won't go into details, but haven't had stomach ache in a few days ! Bonus! I am just about to go on holiday for a few days, it would be really nice if for once in many years I could go away and not keep dashing for the loo! :)
