Does anybody find painkillers give you constipation? I can only take Paracetamol and the doctor told me never to take the Ibuprofen type as it won't do my stomach any good.

I think a lot of painkillers cause stomach and bowel problems and ibuprofen is particularly notable for this as it shouldn't be taken if you have upper digestive problems such as reflux, ulcers etc.
I have a spinal problem and take co-codamol 15mg/500mg, but can only manage a maximum of 2 doses per day without causing my bowels to seize up. Paracetamol seems to be the safest of all the painkillers.

Yes they do. They slow down your digestive system.
My GP took me off naproxen because of my IBSc, not supposed to take anything with codeine or morphine because of my anti-depressants, so I'm limited to paracetamol myself
Hi Sue I have spoken to several people who say the same thing that painkillers cause them to become constipated. I had major surgery a while ago and was on morphine at first then paracetamol combined with Codeine This cause me to have serious constipation.
