I drank lemon water every morning for 6 months in the lead up to my wedding last summer. No visible effects on IBS but noticed I was feeling sick more often. I then started getting terrible acid reflux and ended up on high dose Omeprazole (which didn't agree with me) and then Raniditine. Fairly certain that lemon water was the problem as am fine now. I would be careful. x
Yes I've tried it as I think lemon has so many applications and I'm a great believer in it. However, it didn't suit me at all. To acidic and I ended up with permanent heart burn and acid reflux. Nightmare! Be careful with it if you decide to try it out. Its difficult to know what to take to help the symptoms when your in pain all the time and part of it when you have ibs c is to get transit working. Doesn't mean it cures the ibs just means it makes Ibs c more tolerable. Lots of self help to try. Magnesium citrate or oxide, aloe vera gel, probiotic, grapeseed extract etc. I really sympathize with you because its miserable and just goes on and on and on and its frustrating and confusing. My suggestion is only try the lemon carefully. Who knows it might work for you!
Yes i have lemon water every morning before i drink or eat anything else. I feel it cleanses my insides before eating, and have had no adverse effects.
I was told I had chronic idiopathic constipation. I ended up taking a capful of miralax once a day. It sometimes takes a day or two to start working, but I starting having good bm's. If I was going good I would stop the miralax & take when needed. Now I dont need it at all & am regular. Its better than any laxative & more natural. This process took 4 months.
You need to take a high amount of magnesium citrate or oxide. About 800 to 1200mg. I have had Ibs c almost my whole life and am now in my fifties. This is the best natural supplement to take for this condition and I have tried many. Even my consultant recommended it. I take it every day. You must take it on an empty stomach just before bed with lots of water. I would start with a high dose initially just to clear you out. Even if it means taking a few capsules. I sometimes take 6 200mg capsules. Capsules are the best not tablets and it has to be citrate or oxide as these are the ones that work for constipation. There is a lot of information about constipation and magnesium on the internet. There is a site called Ibs tales that discusses this. The ones I take are either Now foods Magnesium citrate, Solgar Magnesium Citrate or Life extensions. I get mine from the US on a site called iHerb, but you can get them on Amazon. There are other magnesium oxide products specifically for colon cleansing called Mag 07, Colosan and Oxypowder. They are a bit expensive but are amazing. I use these in between. No cramps no bloating, just relief. You can get these on Amazon as well. Don't suffer any longer. By the way I also follow a low fodmap diet through a dietician but this alone does not help constipation.
I've had ibs c for 25 years. I took manevac for 20 and had 2 bm s a day. Then 2 years ago i got pain under my right rib. Had all tests done and Dr can't understand it. Gastro said maybe part of ibs as colon was full on scan. The manevac started to give me horrible pain after 20 years so I'm now relying on senna tablets. I get some relief but at weekend's still take manevac .
