Hi guys! I'm a new here. I have upper and lower abdominal pain. I have RA and Adult-onset Still's disease (AOSD). I know RA and AOSD can cause abdominal pain. Someone told me that my symptoms like Gastroduodenal Crohn's disease and the other said it's just like IBS. So I wonder to know what's the different symptoms between Gastroduodenal crohn's disease and IBS. What's kind of lab test for IBS?
My symptoms of abdominal pain are bloating especially after eating, crampings, nausea, vomiting, hematemesis, tenderness in the upper middle that spreads to the lower left and the left waist, burning sensation and sore in the stomach, lots of gas even though I have eaten regularly and avoid gas trigger foods. My abdominal pain spreads to the back.
Before I have this, I often have lower abdominal pain, muscle aches and high fever accompanied by the appearance of red rash around the abdomen, arms and thighs. After a year of having it, I finally had a persistent abdominal pain for more than a year with conditions did not work against many the drugs.
My feces and farts smelled so bad. My dirt is sometimes dark brown or dark green or light yellow. Sometimes I have diarrhea but only briefly and often constipation.
Does anyone can help me to reply my questions based on my condition? Or is any of you having the same symptoms as me? Please share with me. Thank so much.
You poor thing - sounds miserable. I have IBS - C so I can identify with a lot of your symptoms but my son has Ulcerative Colitis - IBD. As far as I know the difference between IBS and IBD is whether or not there's blood in the stool. Have you had a colonoscopy? It might be a good idea to see whether there's any inflammation there. I think diet helps and avoiding stress (as much as anyone can - it's a daily commitment to relaxation practice) but my son has found turmeric milk soothing and healing. You can google it for a recipe and try it but like anything, just try a little bit at first to see how you tolerate it. I also think having these conditions makes one feel helpless so anything you can do to help yourself, will calm the mind and soothe the body. But I'm not a doctor - these are just my suggestions as a starter. Good luck.
I had practiced meditation for calming my diseases but it was not working well due to the severe flare up of my AOSD. I spend my days mostly on the bed as I have extremely unusual fatigue and I'll get spiking fever when I go out. AOSD is a very rare systemic autoinflammatory.
I googled it and found not all Crohn's disease have blood in the stool. There is no blood in the stool if someone has gastroduodenal crohn's disease. But gastroduodenal crohn's disease is a rare type of CD. The admin in IBD community told me it's only 5% people. I googled it about IBS and gastroduodenal CD and the symptoms are very similar.
I did turmeric for several months without milk shooting. It wasn't working for me. My nausea and cramping became worse.
You're right about colonoscopy can differentiate between IBS and IBD. I have thought to do it from some months ago. I'll try it and very hope the new doctor here can differentiate correctly and help me much as my last rheumatologist gave up to my condition as I have a very rare disease with unresponsive with many medicines. He didn't ask me for colonoscopy as I had hematemesis. But I never give up to my condition. I look for many information everyday.
Anyway, Thank you so much. You have a great suggestion for me.
