Hi there nish
Although I can't help re an enzyme supplement for helping with onions, perhaps swapping to leeks may prove beneficial? Like you, I find onions cause gas/cramping etc., but leeks seem less problematic, especially the green part. I know the taste isn't the same, but it may be worth trying? Good luck!

Onions and garlic are a massive trigger for my IBS. As you say very difficult to avoid in food especially if you are eating out at cafe or restaurant. Nightmare
Indeed ! I found this one fodmapmonash.blogspot.co.uk...
'alpha-galactosidase' . But seems like they haven't listed Onions.
I don't understand how you can't avoid onions, if you are cooking, but it is difficult when you eat out. You can substitute them with chives, asafoetida or the green part only of Spring onions which are low fodmap, My gut can't cope with leeks, I used to love braised leeks.
I feel your pain! Anything remotely onion-y (leeks, spring onion - even the green part) sets off my gastritis and IBS simultaneously, along with garlic and fennel, and leaves me in agony. I haven't tried enzymes yet, as I'm still on a fodmap reintroduction food plan.
However, like you, I think it's going to be really tricky, especially when eating out, to avoid all of the above. When cooking at home, I use a stick or two of celery as an alternative for onions, as they give a good texture and take on the flavouring that you use in your sauces. I also use asafoetida in place of onion powder to give my dishes an onion-like taste.
I should've finished my fodmap reintroduction by November and will then be giving enzymes a go myself.
Good luck, let me know how you get on.
I take allegany digestive enzymes they help with food problems one of the best on the market! My problem is with peppers I bloat with them and have problems. I have had IBS D and C most of my life but I also now take moducare and glutamine and that helps along with body biotics and inulation powder every morning that helps as well my IBS is manageable now.
Just a thought for you, but have you been tested for Candida and SIBO? sickofibs.com/ibs-symptoms/...

Hmmm unfortunatley onions garlic are a big trigger for most ibs sufferers. I take cytoplans digestive gut enzyme and i can eat most things with it but still not good with onions or garlic .
I had candida bad so was given them with a good probiotic and something called dida, which kills candida and it almost cured my ibs but i still cannot wat onions garlic or anything yeasty
