I'm new here and although I've lurked on forums in the past, I've decided to join. I've been plagued for years with IBS and despite overhauling my diet and lifestyle, and trying everything from the gp, I still suffered to some extent. A few months ago, I started taking Alflorex precisionbiotics after reading some medical reports , and I can't believe the difference they have made to my life. I barely have any symptoms at all now on a day to day basis, they have truly turned my life around. They are a unique kind of probiotic that helps with gut health, and I thought, what the hell, I'll try anything at this point. I just wanted to share in case it can help anyone else too. They aren't the cheapest but I can sometimes find them on eBay cheaper than on the high street. Just wanted to share and say hello xxxx

I have IBS with alternating constipation and diarrhoea . I'd tried all kinds from the gp, then accidentally fell on a study about these capsules. I'd tried probiotics in the past but thought what the hell. They honestly have changed my life. I even managed a holiday with hardly any issues despite eating all kinds. They took about 2-3 weeks to really kick in but alflorex made such a difference. Just wish they were a tad cheaper (£25 a month) but I can usually get them cheaper on eBay if I'm lucky. It just means I can get through most days normally now and get my life back xxx
That's very helpful - I'm taking two Acidophilus (Holland & Barrett) a day, and they've helped a lot, but there are still days when I get caught unawares!
I wondered about Alflorex, having seen the adverts - how and when do you take them? First thing, on an empty stomach, or with food?
Had a quick look at these can't see how much of the bacteria it gives you i.e. 10 billion, 20 billion etc (the higher the better) what does it say on your packaging? X
I can't see to be honest, but more isn't always better, it's more to do with the strains themselves that are in there. It has a patented culture specifically for IBS and gut related conditions. Sorry I can't help more xxx
They sound really good and thank you for sharing. What a shame that the medical profession in the UK have probiotics that you can get on prescription. I do think that we suffer a lot with this condition financially as from a lot of posts on here we are all trying different things which can cost a lot.
