I used to do the slimming world diet, it was at this time i noticed that my stomach was hard and my left hand side was sticking out (bloated) has anyone else with ibs done slimming world with no problems or maybe you experiencec to same as me. Does anyone know why this might be the case of was it coincidence? Thanks for any replies. Terry
Hi Terryf57. I tried slimming world last year and immediately felt really bloated and uncomfortable. I put it down to increase in fibre and as I started to lose a little weight felt I was on the right track. 3-4 weeks in I got really bad diarrhoea, doubled up in pain and passing so much blood I ended up in a&e. That was the start of my IBS journey. Not sure why slimming world didn't suit me as I'd followed low fat before and my diet wasn't unhealthy to start with. I probably consumed more processed food on the diet or more carbs. Really need to lose some weight now but I'm waiting on seeing a dietitian to get some help with the low fodmap diet. Before my most recent flair I did try low carb with good quality fats and felt much better generally with more energy.
I expect it may be down to the fact that Slimming World advocate low fat yogurts which are full of sugar and I don't think their diet is that healthy anymore. My daughter has been on the diet before and she wants to lose weight now and I mentioned Slimming World and she said that there is far too much processed stuff on the diet.
Because of recent press, in particular about carbs and sugar, I think they need to completely overhaul the diet.
I would go on a calorie controlled diet as that way you know exactly what you are eating.
