You need to make sure you are eating at least your 5 day of vegetables and fruit and pent if water. Drinking Fybogel can also help, you can buy these from Boots or supermarkets and they are a high fibre drink.
I base my eating habits on soluble fiber,no more constipation for me
Use your search engine and look up soluble fibre
Ok so you are eating healthy but do the foods actually agree with you? certain foods cause a build of gas in your intestine, onions, beans and pulses, spices and garlic are known triggers. too much salad, veg and fruit can make ibs worse, its a very fine balance for some people. Are you drinking enough? 1.5-2 lt a day minimum. Are you exercising daily a good brisk walk a day, a swim, get your bowel moving regularly.
Of course there are so many reasons for a flare up, if your are experiencing regular changes in bowel pattern then see your GP just to be certain it is IBS.
I am under a Professor in Manchester and part of a case study and have been told to stay away from fibre as it is the worst thing I can have. Nothing brown or wholemeal.
