Hi I have had over the last 6 years 4 Diverticulitis flares treated with. antibiotics. Had one a month ago and was too ill to fly to Crete. My doc filled in medical form but when buying travel insurance did not declare these flare ups. Didn't think I needed to but claims departmennt are refusing to reimburse me. Can they do this. Does anybody know? Any advice I'd be greatful for.

Hi srnvch64Wal
Like you I have diverticulitis and ulcerative colitis. Unfortunately you do have to divulge everything to your insurance. They always ask how long that you have had the illness.
The same thing happened to me and they only paid out for my oh and not for me. I had to get a letter from my doctor saying how long I had suffered from my illnesses. It was a struggle fighting them but at least I got the money back for my oh.
They always promise you the world but never want to pay out. I have travel insurance through my bank.
If they won't pay you if you where traveling with someone then fight for there travel expenses. I truly wish you lots of luck and hope that you get something back. Take good care of yourself and I am truly sorry to hear that you missed out on your holiday. Jan101 xxxx
Cheers jan101 I will keep trying for my oh he didn't ask to lose the holiday and I have e mailed the claims dept and am keeping my fingers crossed
Hi Jan101
Travel cancellation claim has just been settled. I fought for my oh rights to be reimbursed and claims dept. Must have done a u-turn and reimbursed me the full amount. Thanks so much Jan for your support..it was really appreciated. Please keep well and in touch. X jellybelly
